    Gandhinagar, 19th July 2023: Gujarat is set to become a popular Film Destination State. The 69th Filmfare Awards will be held for the first time here.
    For organizing the Awards ceremony, the State Government’s Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Limited (TCGL) signed an MoU with Worldwide Media Pvt. Ltd., in the presence of Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel in Gandhinagar today.

    The MoU was signed by M.D. and Commissioner of TCGL Dr. Sourabh Pardhi on behalf of the government, and Mr. Deepak Lambda on behalf of Worldwide Media.
    It is to be noted here that several film industries have been drawn to Gujarat owing to the Cinematic Tourism Policy announced by the State Government in 2022. The Filmfare Awards-2024 will be yet another milestone for the state.

    During the MoU signing ceremony, Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel said, “Filmfare Awards are one of the most prestigious awards of Indian cinema. Organizing this award ceremony in the state will attract a large number of celebrities, filmmakers and industry professionals to Gujarat. This influx of visitors will boost tourism, the hotel industry and other activities in the state. It will also give a fillip to the local economy and generate employment”.

    He said that organizing the Filmfare Awards will facilitate cultural exchange between the Indian film industry and the local culture of Gujarat. Various artists and filmmakers of Gujarat will get an opportunity to interact and exchange ideas with professionals in the Indian film industry and learn about new trends, technology and techniques in film production.

    He stated that the Filmfare Awards will act as a catalyst in realizing the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ vision of the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. It will also promote Gujarat as a potential film destination.

    The event will showcase the state’s natural beauty, cultural heritage and infrastructure, for future film projects. As a result, film production and investment will increase in the state, he added.

    Mr. Vineet Jain, MD of Times Group said, “The partnership between the Government of Gujarat and Worldwide Media will give new strength to the film world. The purpose behind organizing Filmfare Awards in Gujarat is not only to promote Gujarat tourism but also to strengthen Gujarat’s film ecosystem.”

    He pointed out that organizing the film awards will attract production houses from all over the world to Gujarat, and also promote art, culture, and the film industry, thereby leading to the holistic development of Gujarat. “Worldwide Media is thinking of organizing the Filmfare Awards in Gujarat in early 2024”, he added.

    The popular Hindi film actor Mr. Tiger Shroff expressed his gratitude to Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel for opening the doors by hosting the Filmfare Awards in Gujarat and said, “My grandfather was Gujarati, and my father received the Filmfare Award for Parinda, hence, I have an old relationship with both the Filmfare and Gujarat.”

    Shri Hareet Shukla, Secretary of Tourism Department, in his welcome speech, said, “It is a matter of pride for Gujarat to host the 69th Filmfare Awards. This will give a new direction to Gujarat’s tourism, nationally and internationally.”

    He added, “Under the guidance of Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel, Gujarat has made commendable progress across all sectors. In tourism, Gujarat has created a unique identity in India by celebrating tourist destinations and festivals. Consequently, the number of tourists has also significantly increased. Not only that, Gujarat has opened new doors for development by announcing the Cinematic Tourism Policy for the development of the film industry.”

    It is essential to mention that the film and entertainment industry creates several direct and indirect job opportunities. Organizing Filmfare Awards in Gujarat will also generate employment in various sectors like event management, hospitality, transportation, and security.

    In this MoU program, State Tourism Minister Shri Mulubhai Bera, Industries Minister Shri Balwantsinh Rajput, Health Minister Shri Rishikesh Patel and members of the Cabinet besides State Chief Secretary Shri Rajkumar, Managing Director of Tourism Corporation and Tourism Commissioner Dr. Sourabh Pardhi, senior officials and CEO of Worldwide Media Pvt. Ltd. Shri Deepak Lamba were present.
