Governor O.P. Kohli and Guj CM unfurls National Flag at 69th Republic Day state-level function at Mehsana

    Gujarat Governor O.P. Kohli today unfurled the National Flag to the tune of National Anthem at the 69th Republic Day’s state-level glittering function at Mehsana, amidst flowers being showered from a helicopter.

    Chief Minister Vijay Rupani took the Guard of Honour in an open jeep at the parade ground, brimming with a large number of people, who had started assembling since early morning at the venue from places far and between, in an atmosphere surcharged with enthusiasm and patriotism.

    The state-level R-Day function was this year held at Mehsana as part of Gujarat Government’s policy of decentralization with people’s participation to hold the national functions like Independence Day and Gujarat’s Foundation Day at different district headquarters by rotation – a precedence set by Prime Minister Narendra Modi when he was the Chief Minister of Gujarat.

    The march past was presented by 1,077-strong 32 Platoon under Commandant Premsukh Delu, followed by Mounted Police, Dogs Squad, hair-raising stunts by motorcycle borne Policemen and Policewomen.

    The Police Force also presented cultural programmes, rifle drill, judo, karate, gymnastics, equestrian, and dog adventures.

    Hundreds of students from different schools like that of Patan Group, Urban Shabari, Divine School, Unjha, Ganpat University presented variety entertainment programmes like Bhavai dance led by Baldevbhai Naik, Mandvi Garbo and Vande Mataram.

    Mr. Kohli and Mr. Rupani later presented trophies and prizes to the winners of different competitions. Platoon No 4 of Armed BSF, SRP Group No. 7 and Mehsana Police stood First, Second and Third respectively in Parade, Jayesh Chaudhry and Harpal Singh for men’s motorcycles stunt, Pujaba Khuman and Krishnaben Vasava for women’s.

    Prominent persons present at the parade included Chief Secretary J.N. Singh, DGP Pramod Kumar, Shrimati Avinash Kohli, Shrimati Anjaliben Rupani. MP Jayashriben Patel, MLAs Rishikesh Patel, Ramanbhai Patel, Karshanbhai Solanki, Additional Chief Secretary for Home M.S. Dagur, Principal Secretary GAD Chuango, Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary Ashwini Kumar, District In-charge Secretary Dhananjay Dwivedi, Youth Services and Cultural Affairs Secretary V.P. Patel, Collector H.K. Patel, DDO Manoj Kumar Dakshini, prominent distinguished citizens and a large number of social workers, students.
