Guj CM announces 16% rebate in gas bill to ceramic industry, to benefit 1,160 units in Morbi, Surendranagar, Sabarkantha

    Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani here today announced 16 per cent rebate in gas bill to the ceramic industry in the state, exempting them from the Rs.2.50 per standard cubic meter (SCM) hike by Gujarat Gas Company Limited and Sabarmati Gas Limited. This is in over and above Rs.2 per SCM rebate announced earlier.

     The decision was taken at a high-level meeting today, following representation by the industry, passing through difficult time in the wake of global pandemic novel coronavirus. The decision will benefit 1,160 units in Morbi, Surendranagar and Sabarkantha.

     The Chief Minister’s decision will empower these ceramic units in the state compete in the world market, export their products and earn foreign exchange.

    The rebate totalling Rs.4.50 per SCM on the latest gas price of Rs.24.91 per SCM will be applicable from today (September 8, 2020). This is about 16 per cent less than the gas price in May 2020.

     The Federation of Industries and all the leaders of the ceramic industry in the state have welcomed the decision.

     The high-level meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Anil Mukim, Chief Minister’s Chief Principal Secretary K. Kailashnathan, Chief Minister’s Additional Chief Secretary M.K. Das, Additional Chief Secretary for Energy and Petrochemicals Sunaina Tomar and GSPC MD Sanjeev Kumar
