Gandhinagar, Friday: Gujarat Chief Minister Mr. Bhupendra Patel has taken an important decision to start “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” Incentive Compensation Scheme for the citizens of the state. Chief Minister also apprised the citizens of the state of various infrastructural services provided by the municipalities, including property tax, general water tax, special water tax, light tax, sewerage tax, etc. Through this innovative approach that CM adopted citizens would get ease and will be encouraged citizens to pay taxes.
Chief Minister Mr. Bhupendra Patel has decided that under this scheme for citizens whoever pays tax amount in advance by 31st May for the financial year 2022-2023 will be given the benefit of 10% compensation. Not only that but to give impetus to Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi’s Digital India campaign, Mr. Bhupendra Patel has also decided that the amount of such tax paid through mobile app or E-Nagar online portal till 31st May 2022 will get additional 5% compensation. That means citizens who make digital transactions will get the benefit of total compensation of 15%.
Chief Minister has also made it easier for the citizens who have failed to pay the taxes of municipalities of previous years. Accordingly, Mr. Patel has also decided that, if the taxpayer-citizen who haven’t paid previous years’ property taxes will be given 100% Interest-Penalty-Warrant Fee-Notice Fee if they pay the amount by 31st March 2022.
It is important to point out here that the main source of revenue for the municipalities of the state is the revenue collected from tax. Municipalities pay for the development of the city and the provision of essential services to the citizens from such tax revenue.
For the welfare of the citizens, Gujarat Chief Minister Mr. Bhupendra Patel has decided to implement this “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav Incentive Compensation Scheme” and also to increase the revenue of the municipalities of the state as well as for the well- being of citizens which would make it easier and to encourage them to pay their taxes.
