Guj CM Dedicated Various Development Works worth Rs.200 crore at Rajkot

Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Vijay Rupani dedicated various development works worth Rs.200-crore at Rajkot today.

The projects include 1,008 residential units for the poor and middle class worth Rs.90-crore, launching 1,736 residential units worth Rs.117-crore, under construction for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) and Lower Income Group (LIG), ‘Pandit Deen Dayal Janaushadhi’, ‘Generic’ Medical Store at the Atmiya College campus, converting 53,500 street lights into LED, and swimming pool beautification project for Rs.20-lakh near the racecourse.

Speaking on the occasion, he said there is need to provide housing for the poor and even lower income groups (LIG) finding it increasingly difficult in the wake of rising land and houses. The stress is on housing with better physical amenities. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has earmarked Rs.1-lakh crore for housing, with Gujarat Government also lapping up matching projects. The housing units under construction include 224 EWS and 784 LIG.

CM Shri Rupani inaugurated a Generic Medical Store at another function. He said that Gujarat leads with opening 52 Generic Medical Stores by Pandit Deen Dayal Janaushadhi Kendra for selling quality medicines at low cost for the poor have already been opened in the state, while tenders have been issued for 500 more, to take the number to 1,000.

He said converting street lights into LED would not only save 50 per cent electricity bill, but also save energy.

Darshitaben Shah, Rajkot Municipal Commissioner Shri Banchhanidhi Pani, Municipal Finance Board Chairman Shri Dhansukhbhai Bhanderi, BJP City unit President Shri Kamlesh Mirani and, among others.
