Chief Minister Mr. Vijaybhai Rupani today expressed determination that under the ‘Nal Se Jal’ (Water through Tap) scheme of ‘The Jal Jivan Mission’ every house would be supplied pure-filtered drinking water for healthy life to everyone in the state.
In this context, the Chief Minister said that the objective of supplying the safe drinking water to every house of the state, including of Saurashtra, Kutch, and North-Gujarat regions, is to protect the people from water born diseases such as bladder-stones, elephantiasis and others.
Through E-launching and E-dedication to the people through a video conference from Gandhinagar, the Chief Minister gifted development works worth of Rs. 97-crore to Morbi town. These development works were included Rs. 19-Crore’s drinking water schemes for Morbi city and Rs. 79-Crore’s worth NCD-4 Group Modification Scheme, based on Brahmani Dam 1 & 2.
The event was also attended from Gandhinagar by Water Supply Minister Mr. Kunwarjibhai Bavaliya and Mr. Dhananjay Dwivedi (IAS), Secretary (Water Supply Department) and from Morbi by BJP leaders, former MLAs, and officials.
Mr. Rupani further stated that, “The making of water-bores and use of hand-pumps for getting underground drinking waters, have been made the things of past by us. Under the SAUNI Yojana we have filled the 115 water-reservoirs of Saurashtra region with Narmada waters.”
He further stated that “With the mantra of ‘Jaya Manvi Taya Suvidha’ (basic amenities at the door-step of every human beings), we have provided basic amenities such as sewerage, water, electricity and roads to every village and town.”
Under the ‘Nal Se Jal’ scheme, the Union Government of Prime Minister Mr. Narendrabhai Modi has taken a pledge to provide drinking water to every house of all villages and towns by year-2024, he said and added that Gujarat Government has set up to achieve this target in the state by year-2022. Five districts of the state would achieve this by October 2, 2020.
Even during the ‘Corona Transition’ time, Gujarat has not halted its growth yatra and has announced developmental works worth of Rs. 10,471-crore in four months, the Chief Minister said.
