Gandhinagar, Wednesday: Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel held a high- level meeting with the State Co-operative Milk Producers Union, Chairman’s and Presidents of dairies to curb the spread of Lumpy skin disease in animals and also to receive support from them as to what measures can be further taken to not allow this disease from spreading further and also to carry out intensive animal vaccination and treatment to control the spread of this disease.
The Chief Minister requested the leaders of Gujarat in the cooperative milk production sector to protect livestock from Lumpy skin disease in the villages coming under their jurisdiction including their unions and actively support the state government in vaccination operations which would help to prevent the spread of this disease among healthy cattle.
Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel said that the Department of Animal Husbandry of the state has taken up the free vaccination mission mode to protect healthy animals against this epidemic.
So far, more than 43 thousand animals affected by lumpy skin disease who have been treated in 1222 villages of the 15 districts of the state. Not only that, More than 3 lakh 30 thousand animals are vaccinated to prevent the spread of disease.
Out of the 15 districts in the state where Lumpy skin disease has been recorded, a proclamation has been issued which states regarding banning the movement of animals in and outside the district in 14 other districts except Surat.
State Milk Producers’ Associations and dairies should make breeders aware regarding free animal vaccination to prevent the spread of disease in livestock in their area through publicity programs, advertisements etc.
Chief Minister also said that in order to prevent the spread of this disease in the livestock of the state, the related district administrative systems have been urged to take up measures to control the spread of disease through cleaning and disinfecting vehicles that come in contact with animals and spraying of insecticides .
In this meeting held under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister, Minister of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Shri Raghavji Patel, Minister of State for Cooperation Shri Jagdish Vishwakarma, Minister of State for Animal Husbandry Shri Deva Malam and Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation affiliated dairies, Banas Dairy, Amul Dairy, Sabar Dairy, Sumul Dairy and The Presidents of milk cooperative unions joined.
All these Co-operative Milk Producers Union Chairpersons appreciated the alertness of the state government as a result of the timely measures taken by the state government to control and prevent the spread of Lumpy skin disease. Moreover, they also assured the state government to provide complete cooperation to control Lumpy skin disease from spreading further.
Chief Secretary Shri Pankaj Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary Department of Agricultural Cooperation Shri Mukesh Puri, Additional Chief Secretary to Chief Minister Shri Pankaj Joshi, Secretary Smt Avantika Singh including senior secretaries were present in this high-level meeting.
