Gujarat Chief Minister Mr. Vijaybhai Rupani today stated that the books are selfless lifelong friends of human beings. Friends could be selfish, but the books are always inspiring and energizing the human life.
In this reference he further said that in today’s era of social media, e-books and internet-website, the company of books shouldn’t be shut-out. The Chief Minister was speaking at an inaugural function of ‘The 8th Ahmedabad National Book Fair’ organized at River Front in Ahmedabad.
Mr. Rupani said that he is upwardly pushing the initiative of ‘Vache Gujarat’ initiated by Prime Minister Mr. Narendrabhai Modi by honouring dignitaries with ‘Books’ rather than ‘bouquets’ with an aim to spread reading habit among the common man.
The Chief Minister pointed out that Gandhiji was inspired by the books of Ruskin and former president of South Africa Late Mr. Nelson Mandela got inspired by Gandhiji’s books. Thus, the books inspire the human beings for progress.
On the occasion, Mr. Rupani also gifted ‘Floating Boat-Library’ to the citizens of Ahmedabad. He digitally laid foundation stones for ‘Danapeeth Multilevel Car Parking’, to be built at a cost of Rs. 63-crore, and staff quarters of Fire Brigade Employees. He also flagged-off five mobile medical vans, in total costing Rs. 84.40-lakh, for citizens living in slum areas of the city.
Others who spoke also included City Mayor Mrs. Bijalben Patel, Municipal Commissioner Mr. Vijay Nehra. The event was also graced by Mr. June Zeng, Country Head of International Finance Corporation, MLAs – Mr. Jagdishbhai Panchal, Mr. Arvindbhai Patel, Mr. Pradeepbhai Parmar, Mr. Sureshbhai Patel, and Mr. Babubhai Patel, Deputy Mayor Mr. Dineshbhai Makwana, Standing Committee Chairman Mr. Amulbhai Bhatt, and others.
