Guj CM launches free distribution of 42 lakh bamboo to Vanbandhu of tribal area from Ambaji to Umargam

• Skill development centres in tribal areas will achieve the goal of “Vocal for Local”

• This skill development centre will become a growth centre to enable bamboo products to compete in the world market.

• Due to the visionary planning of the Prime Minister Gujarat has become a role model, growth engine of development by providing many development opportunities. 

Gandhinagar, Thursday:  Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel as a part of new initiative to make tribals of 14 districts of the state self-reliant by providing bamboo based employment launched free distribution of 42 lakh bamboo worth Rs. 20 crore to entire tribals residing in Ambaji to Umargam  from Dediapada.

Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel said that, Gujarat has taken direction towards cultivating bamboo termed as ‘Green Gold’ and create an ecosystem of bamboo industry. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has opened a new door for the all-round development of the tribals by removing the 90 year old law of treating bamboo just  as a tree. As a result, bamboo based industries are developing in many states of the country, he added.

CM also inaugurated 4 bamboo based Kaushalya Vardhan Kendra in the tribal areas under Pradhan Mantri Kaushalya Vardhan Yojana to give systematic and timely holistic skills to the tribal youth.

Inaugurating the bamboo-based Kaushalya Vardhan Kendra at Dediapada , Netrang, Waghai and Kevadi at an estimated cost of Rs 2 crore, he said that, these centres in tribal areas will achieve the goal of “Vocal for Local”. He said that under the leadership and guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Government’s commitment for the overall upliftment of Vanbandhu-Tribes has come true with this multi-faceted development. CM further  said that, this Kaushalya Vardhan Kendra (KVK) will become a growth centre to enable bamboo products to compete in the world market.

Under the visionary planning of our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Gujarat has become a role model as well as growth engine of development by providing many development opportunities for all. CM stated that, the government is constantly striving for the economic upliftment of the tribal community through quality use of forest resources like bamboo. The then Chief Minister of the state and the present Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has removed the problems faced by the tribal community in the past by providing benefits worth crores of rupees through Vanbandhu Kalyan Yojana. Today, due to  many science colleges established in the tribal areas, tribal children are pursuing higher education and realizing their dream of becoming pilots, doctors, engineers, he added.

The Chief Minister also elaborated on the state-of-the-art facilities provided by the state government in the tribal areas for the education of the children and youth of tribals, which has resulted in bringing down  drop out ratio and thus benefiting   the youth in achieving  higher education facilities.

CM also said that the government is committed to bring the people of the hinterland and the marginalized into the mainstream of development by providing basic facilities of education, health and security. The government has presented to the countries of the world a moving example of COVID-19 scenario through free distribution of food grains, indigenous vaccines and excellent health care to the poor during the pandemic.  On this occasion, the Chief Minister distributed a total benefit of Rs. 5 crore to the participating forest management committees of the state, benefits of Rs. 3 crore for cluster development and 4 Vanalakshmi, eco-development-eco-tourism benefits were distributed.

CM also enjoyed the traditional tribal food prepared by the women  of the Sakhi Mandals. In the bamboo workshop, CM observed activities of making various items from bamboo and also encouraged the artisans.  He distributed bamboo to the Vanbandhu’s  free of cost. CM dedicated Namo Vad at Dediapada and also planted the banyan tree.

The Chief Minister also e-inaugurated Platinum One-Galteshwar and the sacred Upavan-Rampara of Nandod taluka. Presented letters of commendation to the community for their noble work in forest development. The Chief Minister also released a comprehensive booklet , ‘Bamboo Resource of Gujarat’.

Forest and Environment department Minister Shri Kiritsinh Rana said that,the Central and State Governments have taken many public interest decisions through the mantra of ‘Sauno saath,Sauno vikas’. Various welfare schemes including Vanbandhu Yojana are benefiting the tribal community. More than 500 mobile towers in the hinterland will be erected in just two years, he said. Minister expressed confidence that the Vanbandhu’s would become self-reliant in the near future by getting more employment through four Kaushalya Vardhan Kendras in the tribal areas.

Minister of Tribal Development Shri Naresh Patel said that, The Central and State Governments have carried out various schemes for the benefit of the tribal community in the area from Ambaji to Umarpada, providing employment to the tribal community. The government is always committed to the development of the Vanbandhu’s, said Minister Patel. The government has also allocated a huge amount for the upliftment of the tribal community.

Bharuch MP Shri Mansukh Vasava said that, Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel, various facilities including roads, roads, electricity, irrigation have been made available in the hinterland. He added that efforts are being made by the government to make the tribal people self-employed at home through skill development centres.

Welcoming the Chief Minister and other dignitaries, Additional Chief Secretary, Forest and Environment Department, Shri A.K.Rakesh said that, the tribal people have kept the Indian culture and tradition alive, adding that this complex would be an inspiring source of livelihood for the local tribal artisans.

The Chief Minister was welcomed by presenting him a picture of the Kuldevi Dev Mogra Goddess of the tribals.

On this occasion On this occasion, Minister of State for Industry, Forest and Environment Shri Jagdish Vishwakarma (Panchal), MLA Shri Maheshbhai Vasava, District Panchayat President Smt. Paryusha Vasava, In-charge District Collector Shri Ankit Pannu, District Superintendent of Police Shri Prashant Sumbe, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Shri MM Sharma, Forest Development Corporation M.D. Shri S.K. Chaturvedi, Deputy Forest Conservator Shri Neerajkumar, Former MLA Shri Harshad Vasava, Bharuch Dudhdhara Dairy and Narmada Sugar Chairman Shri Ganshyam Patel including  large number of locals, including forest department officials, were present.
