Guj CM Shri Vijaybhai Rupani attended closing ceremony of KHEL MAHAKUMBH 2019

    Chief Minister Mr. Vijay Rupani marked his presence at the valedictory ceremony of Khel Mahakumbh-2019 held at Trans Stadia in Ahmedabad.

    He presented the outstanding players with awards and recognition during the ceremony.

    In his address, Mr. Rupani said, “More than 40 lakh people participated in the 10th edition Khel Mahakumbh. The event was a brainchild of the current Prime Minister and the then Chief Minister of Gujarat Mr. Narendra Modi.”

    Khel Mahakumbh has given international players to India from Gujarat. The state government is on a mission to encourage sports amongst its youth through Swarnim Sports University and Sports Authority of Gujarat, which has resulted in the establishment of 15 sports schools at the district level.

    As many as 693 players from Gujarat have brought pride by participating in various national and International sports competitions. The Chief Minister urged the youth of the state to show active participation in sports in order to materialise the ‘Fit India’ mission of the Prime Minister.

    The youth of Gujarat have truly realised the slogan ‘Khele Gujarat Jeete Gujarat”, added the CM. The state government will increase the sports budget in the days to come.

    Mr. Rupani unveiled the logo of Khel Mahakumbh 2020 during the ceremony.

    Minister of State for Sports, Youth and Cultural Affairs Mr. Ishwarsinh Patel said, “There were 46.90 lakh registrations for this edition. As many as 39.32 lakh players have participated in various competitions and earned prizes that amount to Rs 40 crore.”

    Principal Secretary of Sports, Youth and Cultural Affairs Mr CV Som, MLAs, renowned players like Harmit Desai, Sarita Gaekwad, Ankita Raina, Mana Patel and many others marked their presence.
