Guj CM Shri Vijaybhai Rupani hands over pension assistance letter to 7000 widows in Olpad

    Gujarat Chief Minister Mr Vijay Rupani today distributed pension orders to 7,000 destitute widows at a function in the Olpad Assembly constituency in Surat district.

    The event entered into the Guinness Book of World Records as distribution of so many orders took place at one place. A certificate to this effect was given to the Chief Minister and the Chief Minister felicitated the Olpad legislator Mukeshbhai Patel.

    Speaking on the occasion, he said the government’s ‘Vidhava Sahay Pension Yojna’ has been rechristened as more respectable ‘Ganga-Swarup Sahayta Yojna’. The state government has come to the support of people realizing their agony who have lost their near ones. He reiterated his compassionate and decisive government’s commitment to fulfil the aspirations of the citizens. For him the power is a means to serve, not to assert.

    Mr. Rupani welcomed the legislator’s concern for womenfolk, arranging mass marriage of ‘halpatis’ community, assistance and housing. It is the government’s objective to reach out directly to the beneficiaries, eliminating the middlemen. He said that Gujarat’s per capita income has increased from Rs 16,000 two decades back to Rs 2 lakh now. Gujarat’s annual budget has crossed Rs 200,000 crore. Gujarat leads in industrial growth, foreign direct investment alongside education, health, jobs, social equanimity, building a society free from exploitation

    Women and Child Welfare Minister Ganpat Vasava described today’s event historic, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Vijay Rupani’s schemes for pension to workers and shopkeepers. He said that arrangement has been made to ensure widows receive pension for lifetime, even after their sons attain 21 years.

    Social Welfare Minister Mr Ishwarbhai Parmar; Minister of State for Social Welfare Mr Ishwarsinh Patel; State General Secretary Mr Bharatsinh Parmar also spoke on the occasion. Olpad MLA Mr Mukeshbhai Patel said Rs 2,300 crore has been spent on development in Olpad taluka during 2012-19. He said that widows in the region have been brought under the National Food Security Scheme.

    Those present on the occasion included Minister of State for Health Mr Kiritbhai Kanani; District Panchayat President Ms Pritiben Patel; MLAs, Mayor Mr Jagdishbhai Patel, Collector Mr Dhaval Patel, among others.
