Gujarat Chief Minister addresses FICCI executive council meeting

    Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani today invited national organisations to convene their business meetings at the just inaugurated ‘Statue of Unity’ complex at Kevadia Colony, being developed with world-class facilities.

    He said that the ‘Statue of Unity’ built as a symbol of uniting India near the Sardar Sarovar Dam on the Narmada, nestled between picturesque Vindhyachal and Satpura Ranges, is now being developed as a global tourism centre.

    Mr. Rupani was speaking at the FICCI national executive council meeting in the run-up to the forthcoming Vibrant Gujarat Summit to be held from January 17 to 19, 2019. The theme is ‘Right Job for Right Time’. FICCI is holding its national executive meeting in Gujarat for the second time. He thanked FICCI for its partnership with Gujarat Government in hosting the Vibrant Summit.

    Even as business is ingrained in the blood and DNA of the Gujaratis, he said that Gujarat has emerged as a Role Model of Development in India also because of spirit of entrepreneurship and industrial peace. Gujarat tops in Ease of Doing Business as well. With 5 per cent of population and 6 per cent of country’s total area, Gujarat contributes to 7.6 per cent of GDP, 22 per cent of exports, 30 per cent of market capitalisation, 19 per cent of production and 8 per cent of investment. Gujarat is a global leader in pharmaceuticals.

    In the interactive session with the corporate honchos, he said that the state government has framed as many as 23 policies, extended Rs.1,000-crore cash incentive for MSME sector, developed Kutch, Sanand and Vitthalapur as new economic hubs and Dholera is being developed as big industrial zone on the lines of Singapore.

    Talking about the Gujarat’s biennial flagship event Vibrant Summit for the last 15 years, he said that Gujarat has been Number One State in providing jobs, developed the rural economy for sustainable growth to check rural exodus and urban influx.

    Mr. Rashesh Shah of FICCI lauded the Gujarat Government’s favourable policies and extended support for the forthcoming Vibrant Gujarat Summit.

    The FICCI national executive council is being attended by Vice-Chairman Sangita Reddy, Messrs Pankaj Patel of Zydus Cadila, Rajiv Vastupal, Sandip Somani among others.
