As a part of the 71 st Republic Day’s state level celebration function, Chief Minister Mr. Vijaybhai Rupani inaugurated a ‘Handicraft Exhibition’ at Shashtri Maidan in Rajkot on the eve of Republic Day, today.
After the inauguration, the Chief Minister reviewed the handicrafts articles displayed at the exhibition and praised the arts and artisans.
It should be noted that Gujarat is famous across India and world for its rich and wide varieties in handicrafts such as Patola, Bandhani, embroidery, boutique, artistic weaving, leather works, wooden works, bamboo works, lacquer art,
tangaliya, khadi, clay works, and others.
These handicrafts are giving glimpses and insights into various groups and their unique cultures. They also provide employments and earning opportunities to thousands of artisans. ‘The Handicraft Festival – 2020’ has been organized by Rajkot District Admin istration.
The event was also graced by food and civil supply minister Mr. Jayeshbhai Radadiya, Mr. Dhansukhbhai Bhanderi – Chairman of Municipal Finance Board, Rajkot City Mayor Mrs. Binaben Acharya, MLAs – Mr. Arvindbhai Raiyani, Mr. Lakhabhai Sagathiya, District Collector Ms. Remya Mohan, leaders – Kamleshbhai Mirani, Mr. Nitinbhai Bhardwaj, Mrs. Anjaliben Rupani, Additional Resident Collector Mr. Parimal Pandya, Deputy Collector Mr. Siddharth Gadhvi, and others.
