Ahmedabad, June 8, 2017: Chief Minister Vijay Rupani today laid the foundation stones of development works totaling Rs.2,041-crore, including Rs.1,054-crore Kadana dam-based lift irrigation scheme for Dahod district, Rs,890-crore Narmada river basin (Hatkeshwar) group water supply scheme for 285 villages in Dahod and Chhotaudepur districts, Rs.55-crore 220kv electricity sub-station at Rupakheda, Rs.23-crore district jail, Rs.4.80-crore and Rs.6.30-crore Rs.4.80-crore projects for education, health and home departments.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Rupani reiterated his government’s commitment to provide infrastructure facilities, ranging from drinking and irrigation water to electricity, roads, health and educational institutes, in the eastern tribal belt of Gujarat from Ambaji to Umargaon for all round development of the tribal people. The government plans to link every home in Sanjeli, Singwad and Dhanpur talukas through the Narmada river basin (Hatkeshwar) scheme to free the district of hand pumps.
He said that Gujarat aimed at providing the tribal people their rights to forest produces and minor minerals under PESA, eliminating middlemen, also strictly implementing prohibition and cow slaughter ban. The government has bought groundnut at support price worth Rs.1,000-crore from the farmers at the and tuar daal worth Rs.600-crore, announced subsidy on transporting potato, allocating Rs.750-crore as 50 per cent subsidy for erecting fencing to save crops from wild boar menace.
Mr. Rupani released Union Minister Jashwantsinh Bhabhor’s booklet titled ‘Vikas Ki Oar Badhte Kadam’, having constructed 32,500 toilets as part of declaring Devgadh taluka be made open defecation free.
Mr. Jashwantsinh Bhabhor said that it was only after Prime Minister Narendra Modi became the Chief Minister as a savior of the state in 2001 like Guru Govind that the people got adequate drinking and irrigation water, better educational facilities – deprived for the preceding 60 years. He thanked Mr. Rupani for granting Medical College in Dahod.
Minister of State for Water Resources and Primary Education Nanubhai Vanani recalled that it was Mr. Narendra Modi who had planned for Kadana dam-based scheme to lift water 1,300 feet through 140km long pipeline, changing the face of 207 villages in seven talukas of Dahod and Santrampur taluka of Mahisagar district.
Minister of State for Animal Husbandry and Cow Breeding Bachubhai Khabde said the subsidy up to 100 per cent is for have-nots helping them access to different fields.
The government set up medical camp and stalls at the venue of the function to display the benefits of new Aadhar Cards, Ujala Yojna, Digital Payment, LED Bulb, sale of fans, etc.
District Collector J. Ranjith Kumar welcomed the guests. DDO Sujal Kumar Mayatra proposed a vote of thanks. The function was conducted by Deputy Mamlatdar Ramesh Parmar.
