Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani paid floral tributes to the Servicemen on the 70th Army Day function to mark its foundation day organized by Abhayam sanstha at the Race Course Ground at Rajkot.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that the jawans on round-the-clock duty of protecting the security of the nation deserved all praise.
Law Commission Member Abhaybhai Bharadwaj, Municipal Commissioner Banchhanidhi Pani, Kargil war veteran Jaydev Joshi Captain Joshi, Indian naval officer Manan Bhatt among others recalled the glorious past of the Indian martyrs, ever ready for selfless sacrifice in the service of the nation during war or peace, during natural or man-made calamities.
Abhayam sanstha has been established by Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) four years back and is engaged in various welfare activities for the ex-Service men. RMC does not charge property tax from assets in the names of army men and their families.
Abhayam trustees include Messrs Ansh Bharadwaj, Amrita Bharadwaj, Ashka kamdar, Chintan Kamdar, Mayur Padgharia, Sanghvi, Jitesh Kundanwadi, Savan Mehta, Apurv Mehta, Capt Jaydev Joshi and Mautik Trivedi.
Those present on the occasion include Shrimati Anjaliben Rupani, Gujarat Municipal Finance Board Chairman Dhansukhbhai Bhanderi, District Collector Vikrant Pandya and Police Commissioner Anupam Singh Gehlot.
