    Gujarat creates several world records at state-level 3rd International Yoga Day functions in Ahmedabad

    Governor, Chief Minister and his colleagues, BJP national president, senior government officers and a sea of people join yoga day events

    Baba Ramdev leads yoga sadhana, asanas, pranayam and other mudras 

    Ahmedabad, June 21, 2017: Gujarat today created several new world records at the state-level 3rd International Yoga Day function, like maximum number of participants at one venue, in presence of Governor O.P. Kohli and other dignitaries, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, BJP national president Amit Shah, Deputy Chief Minister Nitinbhai Patel and yoga guru Baba Ramdev here today.

    Nearly 24 different records were created in the form of performing different yoga asana, by maximum number of people at multiple venues in one city, performing the same yoga asana by maximum number of participants at a time, performing certain yoga asana like shirshashan, pushups and marathon yoga for the longest duration.

    A very large number of people performed yoga asana at five venues in Ahmedabad at GMDC Ground, AES Ground, University Sports Ground and University Cricket Ground. People of all age groups, including school and college students, senior citizens had started assembling at the venues since early morning. A brief spell of drizzle did not deter them.

    Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speaking at the national-level event in Lucknow, which was telecast live, congratulated the nation for making a success of the International Yoga Day. He thanked UNESCO for establishing the importance of yoga at the international level.  If yoga can join body, mind and intelligence, he said it can also join individuals with groups, and even nations in the world.

    Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, BJP national president Amit Shah, Bhagwad preacher Bhaishri Rameshbhai Oza performed yoga asana and other mudras at the stage at the main venue, led by Baba Ramdev.

    Baba Ramdev, accompanied by yoga organizations of other states like Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, was camping in the city for the last four days for rehearsals and the preparation for the grant finale.

    Speaking on the occasion, Governor O.P. Kohli described yoga as India’s gift from its age-old heritage to the world. He lauded the contribution of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for setting providing the leadership and guidance to establish yoga at the international level. He thanked Chief Minister Rupani also for hosting the world record-breaking event, thanked Baba Ramdev for popularizing yoga. He thanked the people for repeatedly setting new world record in yoga asana and wished they make it a daily habit for healthy life.

    Chief Minister Vijay Rupani expressed happiness at India’s creating awareness and then showing the way to a healthy life to the world through International Yoga Day, thanks to the relentless efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in introducing the ancient practice of yoga to the world as an innovative lifestyle for modern times.

    BJP national president Amit Shah said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the campaign to make yoga a world event. He recalled that as many as 117 countries endorsed India’s proposal to observe International Yoga Day at the UN Assembly within a span of 42 days. He said yoga help people live a divine life. He wished that today’s world record created in Ahmedabad goes down in the history of the world for the welfare and wellbeing of the people.

    Minister of State for Youth Services and Cultural Activities Rajendra Trivedi described this day as a historic day for the said, adding that setting a new world record increased Gujarat’s pride at the international level.

    Bhagawad preacher Bhaishri Ramesh Oza said that yoga does not belong to any community or sect and as described in the Bhagwad Gita it is a supremely humane lifestyle, a way to healthy life and free us from stress.

    The dignitaries released a book, titled Yoga Vigyanam, on the occasion.

    Others participants included former Chief Minister Anandiben Patel, Ministers of State Pradeepsinh Jadeja, Nirmalaben Wadhwani, Chief Secretary J.N. Singh, several senior government officers, Ahmedabad Collector Avantika Singh, religious heads, office-bearers.
