Gujarat CM Shri Vijay Rupani flags-off Rajkot Marathon

A record 63,594 people participated in the Marathon Run for Smart City, Cleanliness and Traffic Control held in five categories amidst éclat and enthusiasm at Rajkot today. This was the highest number for India and second highest for Asia.

Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Vijay Rupani flagged off the Marathon Runs from the Racecourse Ground. The regular marathons were held for 41km, 21km and 11km, besides that for physically challenged (Divyang), senior citizens and even cancer and hemophilia patients.

CM Shri Rupani congratulated the participants for their enthusiasm and the administration for arranging water, energy drinks and physiotherapists and traffic control on the way.

Speaking on the occasion, he lauded the people of Rajkot as the guiding spirit for rising to the occasion in all circumstances and challenges.

Marathon ambassador cricketer Cheteshwar Pujara also joined.

Those present on the occasion included MP Shri Mohanbhai Kundaria, MLAs Shri Govindbhai Patel and Smt. Bhanuben Babaria, Rajkot Mayor Shri Jaiman Upadhyay, Deputy Mayor Smt. Darshitaben Shah, Municipal Finance Board Chairman Shri Dhansukhbhai Bhanderi, Shri Pushkarbhai Patel, BJP City Unit President Shri Kamlesh Mirani, Shri Nitin Bharadwaj, Municipal Commissioner Shri Banchhanidhi Pani, Police Commissioner Shri Anupam Gehlot and Collector Shri Vikrant Gehlot, among others.
