Gujarat CM Shri Vijay Rupani interacts on Vibrant Gujarat Summit at ‘Diplomats Meet’ in New Delhi

Applauding Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s visionary initiatives to explore investment opportunities in various sectors by launching ‘Make in India’, Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Vijay Rupani stated that his government has also started focusing on‘Make in Gujarat’ by promoting investment in the manufacturing sector.

CM Shri Rupani was speaking at ‘Diplomats Meet’ organized by Government of Gujarat to interact with Ambassadors and High Commissioners of different countries in New Delhi. He added that our objective is to strengthen the relationship and promote cooperation between various countries and the state of Gujarat.

Addressing the august gathering, CM Shri Rupani appraised that Gujarat has 102 product clusters, more than 200 Industrial Estates, 19 operational SEZs and 13 Special Investment Regions. It is a testimony of the Government’s focus on creation of infrastructure and building an enabling eco-system for the growth of manufacturing and service sectors.

Representing only 6% of India’s geographical area and only 5% of India’s population, Gujarat is the growth engine of India’s economy. Gujarat has been a trend-setting State in the progress that India is witnessing today. Gujarat is tuned to receive the maximum benefits from various programs of Government of India like  “Make in India”,  “Start up India”, ” Stand Up India”,  “Digital India” and “Skill India”,  he stated.

Delivering his speech, CM Shri Rupani said that in the rapidly changing market scenario, his government has initiated several measures to promote wide range of sectors and announced as many as 14 policies which include Solar Power Policy, IT & ITES Policy, Electronics Policy and the upcoming Aerospace and Defence Equipment Policy. His Government’s focus is on creating a framework for supporting investors by addressing their requirements at every level of investment, he added.

CM Shri Rupani further highlighted that Gujarat has 25% of India’s total coastline and said that the State Government has urged the Government of India through ‘NITI Aayog’ to have “Coastal Economic Zones” for Gujarat. These will be of major interest to the investors from different countries.

He also appealed to the diplomats to share their experiences in the field of skill development and collaborate with Gujarat in creating those skill development facilities. He further stated that the Government would like to concentrate on both technical and soft skill to be imparted to the younger generation so as to provide requisite man-power at the global level.

After clearing the roadmap of implementation of Goods and Services Tax (GST), VGGS-17 is going to be the first such meet to fulfill the aspiration of ‘One Nation- One Market, One Tax – One Filing’.  This is going to be the place where world leaders, be it political, be it industry, be it knowledge, be it finance or be it policy, all will be there. The State Government has geared up for this opportunity.

CM Shri Rupani also extended his invitation to the more than 60 diplomats present from various countries to attend the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2017 and welcomed them to witness the growth story of Gujarat.

Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2017 will be organized from 10th to 13th January, 2017, with the theme ‘Gujarat – Connecting India to the World’. Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi will be inaugurating the summit.
