Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani flags off Jhulelalji procession to mark Sindhis’ New Year Cheti Chand

    Gujarat Chief Minister Vijaybhai Rupani flagged off the Jhulelal procession to mark his advent to mark Cheti Chand celebrations at Naroda here today. The chariot leading the procession depicted the life and struggles of Jhulelalji

    Extending his greetings to the Sindhis, Mr. Rupani recalled how Jhulelalji’s birth is considered as advent to fight persecution of the Sindhi community during Mughal period. He also recalled community’s struggle at the time of partition and subsequently re-established their identity and became financially well-off through hard work. They maintained their language, tradition and culture, contributing to the development of Gujarat.

    The organizers felicitated the Chief Minister with memento, bouquet and shawl.

    Minister of State for Home Pradeepsinh Jadeja also greeted the Sindhi community on their New Year and asked them t0p contribute their mite in Gujarat’s development.

    Prominent among those present on the occasion included Ahmedabad Mayor Gautam Shah, MLAs Vallabhbhai Kakadia, Jagdishbhai Panchal and Balaram Thavani, former Minister Nirmalaben Wadhwani.
