Gandhinagar, Wednesday: The Sister State Agreement between Gujarat and Delaware State of United States of America will promote higher education, trade and investment partnership as well as expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields including biotech and pharmaceutical.
A profitable discussion and consultation was conducted in this regard in the courtesy meet held in Gandhinagar with Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel, His Excellency Governor of Delaware State Mr. John Carney and the delegation.
A sister-state agreement had been signed between Gujarat and Delaware in 2019 and this meeting will be beneficial to push it forward on a wider scale.
Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel in this meeting said that Under the guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi India’s National Education Policy-NEP 2020 has unlocked opportunities for foreign universities to set up their international branch-campuses in India.
In this context University of Delaware and Delaware State University can contemplate to setup a campus in Gift City in Gujarat.
Not only that, Delaware Biotechnology Institute and Gujarat State Biotechnology Mission can also work together for academic research and development, Shri Bhupendra Patel added.
Apart from this, the Chief Minister also gave a broader background for the participation of higher educational institutions of Delaware state in i-create, life sciences studies etc.
He also invited Delaware fintech companies and tech startups in the fields of digital technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, block chain, cyber security, health tech, edu tech and data centre to join hands together at Gift City.
Prior to the meeting with Chief Minister His Excellency Governor of Delaware and the delegation visited the Minister of Higher Education Shri Rushikesh Patel, Minister of Industry Shri Balvantsinh Rajput and Minister of State for Industry Shri Harsh Sanghvi and also acquainted himself regarding the details of the multiple developments in the higher and technical education and industry sector of the state and the partnership of higher education institutions of the state of Gujarat with the universities of Delaware for which the discussion was held.
The Chief Minister also boosted American companies for investment in India’s largest greenfield industrial region and smart city Dholera SIR.
He further added saying that American companies investing in Dholera SIR in the Aerospace and Defence, Automotive and Ancillaries manufacturing sectors can expand their operations by supplying their products to global markets such as the Middle East and Africa.
Being impressed by the comprehensive development of Gujarat His Excellency The Governor of Delaware State said About 15.20 lakh Gujarati’s reside in the USA out of the 45 lakh Indian diaspora, Moreover USA was also a partner country in the Vibrant Gujarat Summit of 2015 and 2017.
Mr. John Carney congratulated Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel for his resounding victory in the recently concluded Gujarat Assembly Elections.
India and Gujarat have gained a new impetus of development under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He added.
His Excellency The Governor of Delaware extended a heartfelt invitation to Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel to visit the state of Delaware.
