Gandhinagar, Tuesday: Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi attended the Adijati Maha Sammelan in Dahod today where he inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of various development projects worth around Rs 22,000 crore. He calls on to make the tribal areas of Gujarat the focal point of Make in India. After providing basic amenities like water, health, education, electricity, irrigation in the tribal belt of Gujarat from Ambaji to Umargam, the area is now being connected to the mainstream. A capital investment of Rs 20,000 crore in an area like Dahod will give new dimensions of economic development in the tribal areas.
The locomotive steam engine factory will now be modernized at a cost of Rs 20,000 crore. An electric locomotive railway engine of 9 thousand horse power will be built here through which Dahod will play a pivotal role in meeting the demand for electric railway locomotives in the world along with accelerating Make in India.
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in the presence of Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel, Union Railway Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnav, Minister of State for Railways Smt. Darshanabhan Jardosh today inaugurated and laid foundation stones of developmental works of worth Rs. 1809.79 crore in Dahod. He also dedicated developmental works of Rs. 159.71 crore of Panchmahal district.
Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone for manufacturing of 9000 HP Electric Locomotives at the Production Unit in Dahod. The cost of the project is around Rs. 20,000 crore. Realizing the Make in India campaign, the project will create thousands of jobs opportunities in and around Dahod. He inaugurated and laid foundation of total of 21969.50 crore development works in Dahod district.
With the commencement of construction of this modern railway locomotive in Dahod, economic activity in the surrounding areas will increase and this capital investment will provide employment opportunities to thousands of youth.
Mentioning that the Central and State Governments are working together for the overall development of the tribals PM said that, Primary facilities like education, health, roads, electricity, irrigation, agriculture, housing, gas stoves are provided in the tribal belt from Umargam to Ambaji. As a result, many tribal families have been on the path of economic progress.
Talking about the robust implementation of Nal Se Jal Yojana in tribal areas, Shri Modi added that at time when we have water issues women’s of our families had to face it. There was a time when people had to wander for water. But now through Nal Se Jal Yojana tap water is being provided to every households. The scope of the scheme has been widened. So far tap connections have been provided to 5 lakh households in tribal areas of Gujarat. More than 6 crore families in the country have benefited from this scheme in the last two and a half years. We are getting the blessings of mothers as the big problem of water is solved.
When I was the Chief Minister here, I used to get grievances from tribal areas that poisonous snake bites cause human death. At that time we also had anti-venom injection facility in 108 ambulance service. Now wellness centres are also been operational in the tribal areas. People from remote villages are getting health care facilities at their doorsteps.
When I was the Chief Minister, science stream schools were started in every taluka centre of the tribal belt for the tribal youth to become doctors and engineers. Today medical colleges, engineering colleges, nursing colleges have been started in tribal districts. Tribal students are studying and becoming doctors and engineers. These students are also studying abroad with the help of the government.
He also said that 750 Eklavya Model Schools have been started in the country for the purpose of providing modern education to the tribal students. Seven decades ago, there were only 18 tribal research centres in the country, but 9 research centres have been opened in the last seven years.
Sickle cell anemia is a serious problem in the tribal areas of South Gujarat. The biggest impact is on the youth. We are doing scientific research to combat this disease. He said that farmers in the tribal areas have now turned to natural farming. Natural farm products are being sold at higher prices in big cities. As a result, the income of farmers has increased.
The government has been providing free foodgrains to 80 crore poor families for the last two years to keep the stoves of poor, tribal, dalit and backward classes burning during the COVID pandemic.
Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel said that, The first ray of the sun enters Dahod, which makes the whole of Gujarat shine. Today, majority of tribal areas in Dahod is shining bright all thanks to the gift of more than 21 thousand crore development works by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. With his successful leadership, He has set an example to the world of what development is and what could development be like. CM further added saying that, The previous government in 22 years had barely Rs. 2267 crore i.e. annually Rs. 100 crore budget was left for the tribal community. While in the last two decades, under the leadership, determination and guidance of the Prime Minister for the overall development of the tribal community, more than Rs. 1 lakh crore development works have been completed. While by the year 2025 Rs. 1 lakh crore development works will be gifted. The state government is committed to provide all the basic facilities to the tribals. He further said that, The state government has opened the door for the bright students of the tribal community to get higher education through primary education. From medical education to higher education, youth of tribal community have got the opportunity at home. In order to get the benefit of online education, to the youth of tribal community The state government has planned to set up a network of Rs 111 crore.
The state government will start 27 community health centres, 87 primary health centres for the health well-being of the tribal community. Also, 175 ambulances have been gifted by the state government for the health and welfare of the tribal community. CM further informed that, the state government has carried out basic development works for the overall development of the tribal area from Ambaji to Umargam. Pure drinking water is now reaching households of tribal community through ‘Nal Se Jal’ scheme. Ceiled houses have been constructed for 6 lakh families in tribal areas. He further added saying that, In honour of the sacrifices of tribal freedom heroes on the occasion of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav of Independence, National Tribal Museum will be set up at a cost of Rs 137 crore at Garudeshwar Narmada. The Prime Minister’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat will be realized through Atmanirbhar Gujarat through holistic development of the tribal area.
Minister of Tribal Development Shri Naresh Patel said that, Bringing the tribal community of Gujarat into the mainstream, for their all round development, Vanbandhu Kalyan Yojana was implemented in 2007 and now under this scheme More than Rs 1 lakh crore was provided. Shri Narendrabhai has started giving free food grains taking care that no poor person goes to bed hungry during the COVID- 19 pandemic. This has greatly benefited the people of tribal community.
By expressing the feeling of joy Minister of state for Tribal development Smt Nimisha Suthar said that, Today’s day will be written down in golden letters. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has given voice to the problems of women and the houses being constructed under PM Awas Yojana in the name of women have worked to give women their rights by respecting women’s power.
The Prime Minister initially had a dialogue with the people of tribal communtiy who were the beneficiaries of various schemes and got information about the qualitative change in their lives through the benefits of government schemes. During this dialogue, the facial expressions of the beneficiaries of the tribal community were full of joy and their feelings towards the Prime Minister was evident. On this occasion former Union Minister and MP Shri Jasvantsinh Bhabhor, former Minister Shri Ganpatsinh Vasava delivered occasional speech.
On this occasion Union Railway Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister of State for Railways Smt Darshana Jardosh, MP and State BJP President Shri C.R. Patil, Members of the Cabinet of Ministers Shri Jitu Chaudhari, Shri Kuber Dindor, MP Shri Prabhu Vasava, Shri Ratansinh Rathod, Smt Ranjan Bhatt, Smt Ramila Bara, Shri Mansukh Vasava, K.C. Patel, Smt Geeta Rathva, MLAs, former MLAs, office bearers, Chief Secretary Shri Pankaj Kumar, senior secretaries, officials and large number of tribal community people were present.
