Gandhinagar, Thursday: Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi dedicated and laid foundation stone for various developmental projects worth more than Rs. 6500 crore for Bhavnagar, Botad and Amreli district in Bhavnagar.
The people gathered for the occasion greeted the Prime Minister with loud cheers as Prime minister was about to address the gathering. Prime Minister extended his wishes on the occasion of Navratri to the people present and said that, I have come to Bhavnagar after a long time. I will never forget the blessings that Bhavnagar has showered on me today. Today’s occasion is very special for me because the nation is celebrating 75 years of independence and Bhavnagar is also celebrating 300 years of its establishment.
Launching and laying of foundation stone for projects worth crore of rupees has been done today. Due to which the development journey of Bhavnagar will get a new dimension and the identity of Bhavnagar will be enriched. The irrigation schemes included in this project will increase the prosperity of the farmers.
The regional science centre built here will strengthen Bhavnagar’s identity as the capital of education and culture.
This development journey of Bhavnagar will get a new momentum through the projects being launched and planned today. He said that he is of the firm belief that Rajkot-Jamnagar-Bhavnagar area will soon have the same aura as Surat-Vadodara-Ahmedabad. He said that Bhavnagar has immense potential in industry, agriculture and business. Today’s event is a living example of the efforts of the double-engine government in this direction.
Bhavnagar is a district situated on the coast and Gujarat has the longest coastline in the country. But due to the lack of attention to coastal development in the post-independence decades, this vast coastline had become a kind of big challenge for the people. the Prime Minister remarked that in the last two decades, the government has made sincere efforts to make Gujarat’s coastline the gateway to India’s prosperity. We have developed many ports in Gujarat, modernized many ports, the Prime Minister added saying that ,New opportunities for employment were created. Gujarat was the first state in the country to get an LNG terminal and today, Gujarat has three LNG terminals besides a petrochemical hub.
Speaking about the development of fisheries sector the Prime Minister said, A fishing harbor has been prepared to help the fishermen. Fishing harbours were constructed and fish processing was promoted for the benefit of the fishermen’s community. Mangrove forests were also developed in the area. The development of aqua culture has also been encouraged. Gujarat is one of the leading states in the country, where many efforts have been made to cultivate seaweed. Today Gujarat’s coast has become an important part of promoting the country’s import and export and providing employment to millions of people.
Today, Gujarat’s coastline is emerging as synonymous with renewable energy and the hydrogen ecosystem. Today, whatever be the energy needs of the country, this region is becoming an important hub of that. Many solar power projects have also taken shape in this area. Due to the solar power project to be launched in Palitana, many people in this area will have access to cheap and sufficient electricity.
The investment coming in renewable energy, SEZ and semiconductor industry in Dholera will prove beneficial for Bhavnagar as well and the Ahmedabad-Dholera-Bhavnagar region will reach new heights of development. He emphasized the importance of Bhavnagar as a port. Bhavnagar will be developed as an important hub for port lake development and will be connected with various industrial sectors of the country through multi-modal connectivity. Schemes including PM Gati Shakti will give new impetus to Bhavnagar’s connectivity plans. As a result, this port of Bhavnagar will play a pivotal role in building a self-reliant India.
Speaking about the port of Bhavnagar will play a big role in building a self-reliant India and create hundreds of new employment opportunities in the state Prime Minister said that, The port will cater to the needs of major projects like scrapping of cars, manufacturing of containers, Dholera (SIR). There will be an expansion of business related to storage, transportation and logistics. Prime Minister added. Referring to the legacy of the Alang Ship breaking yard, the Prime Minister said that the biggest beneficiary of the Vehicle Scrappage Policy will be Bhavnagar. He also underlined the related opportunities of container building from the scrapped iron. As the world today looks for a reliable supplier of containers, Bhavnagar can play this role superbly with the help of its entrepreneurs and strategic location. Talking about the remarkable development in transport services across Saurashtra and Gujarat in the last two decades, the Prime Minister added, The distance between Saurashtra and Surat has been cut down from 400 km to 100 km due to new projects including Ghogha-Dahej ferry and Ghogha-Hajira Ro-Ro ferry service. Thanks to these services as because of them more than 40 lakh litres of fuel annually and also more than three lakh people are benefited. He also said that there has been an unmatched improvement in the connectivity of Saurashtra with other parts of Gujarat.
The Prime Minister said that power is a means of service.Our motivation and goal has never been to remain happy by assuming the power. Speaking about the development roadmap of Saurashtra including Bhavnagar, he said that alongwith transport services tourism is also being encouraged in this area. An initiative has been taken by the government to develop tourism in these areas while preserving the outstanding maritime heritage of the coastal areas of the state. Mentioning that a maritime museum is going to be constructed at Lothal, one of the oldest ports in the world, he said, This Maritime museum will create a unique identity similar to the Statue of Unity worldwide and enrich the cultural identity of the state.
Prime Minister further added saying that when the fishermen of the area had to face life-threatening situations due to a lack of awareness he recalled the time when he was the Chief Minister of Gujarat, he said that a special red basket with several buttons was handed out to the fisherman. In times of an emergency, the fisherman had to press the button to summon the coast guard office for assistance or help. The Prime Minister further added that subsidies have been provided to the fishermen to improve the condition of their boats. Along the lines of empowerment of farmers, credit cards were issued to fishermen. Moreover the government has mainstreamed development by taking measures such as subsidies to modernize boats for the benefit of fishermen, Kisan credit card benefits like farmers etc.
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi further said that, waters of Narmada has been brought to Saurashtra through Sauni Yojana. Through these development works, the promise of the government has been keto that there is an uninterrupted development journey in the state, the development works continue and those development works do not stop. Double engine government is working for development including industrial sector in Mahuva, Gariyadhar, Khambha, Amreli, Junagadh, Porbandar areas of Saurashtra. The government is providing resources through various schemes through which the poor man is getting employment and working hard to come out of the poverty. The blessings of poor people are a source of faith and energy. These schemes will determine the future of the youth of Bhavnagar.
The schemes which are being implemented in Bhavnagar will be beneficial in building Saurashtra, Gujarat and India. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi also recalled his memories related to Bhavnagar’s famous Ghatiya and Penda of Narshi Bava.
On this occasion Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel said that The coastal district of Bhavnagar is a hub for industry, import and export. Just as King Krishna Kumar Singh presented the name of Bhavnagar to the world by gifting a cow to Brazil, today the world’s first CNG terminal to be constructed at a cost of Rs.4024 crore for which the foundation stone has been laid by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will become a new landmark. The Chief Minister further said that the GIDC, which will be constructed at a cost of Rs.200 crore at Nava Madhiya of Bhavnagar district, will become an efficient means for providing employment to youth along with industrial development.
To further strengthen the state-wide network of water management, the work of the SAUNI Yojana Link and Group Water Supply Project worth Rs.2,047 crore for which the foundation stone has been laid.
The gift of Solar Park will be given to Bhavnagar. Emphasis has been placed on areas including science and technology to build a developed India during this Amrit Kaal. Thus, under the guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Gujarat is doing development works with speed and scale.
On this occasion Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi was welcomed and felicitated with Chandi no Garbo, Shawl, and Paghadi by Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Apart from this, Minister of Education Shri Jitu Vaghani, Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Shri RC Makwana gifted a picture of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi prepared by Mataji ni Chundadi and Lokbharti Sanosara.
Prime Minister was welcomed by Bhavnagar MP Dr. Bharathi Shiyal, MLA Vibhavariben Dave, Amreli MP Shri Naran Kachhadia presented Mataji’s chundadi and Bhatigal Koti with Bhavnagar art work, Bhavnagar Mayor Kirtibala Danidhariya presented Dwarkadhish photo, Bhavnagar district officials along with bronze idol of Lord Krishna also officials from Amreli and Botad gifted souvenirs to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Before the arrival of the Prime Minister, folk singers Kirtidan Gadhvi, Meraman Gadhvi and other artists presented entertainment acts alongwith patriotic songs, which were enjoyed by the people gathered.
