Gandhinagar, Friday: Vice President Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar inaugurated the Excellence in Higher Education Program organized by the Education Department of the State Government at Gujarat National Law University, Gandhinagar in the presence of Governor Shri Acharya Devvrat and Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel.

In his address, Vice President Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar said that today the countrymen feel proud to be Indian whenever they go to any corner of the world. This has become possible because of the visionary Prime Minister of the country Shri Narendra Modi. Today, many countries of the world are observing and imitating India and are seriously implementing every word of the country’s Prime Minister for their national development. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is realizing a bright future through bright present.

Pre and post-independence, many people from Gujarat have contributed in nation building and even now Gujaratis are leading the country, which is a matter of pride for Gujarat. Today, Gujarat has become the first choice destination worldwide for investment and opportunity. Referring to history, the Vice President said that when he was working as a Member of Parliament 33 years ago, the Member of Parliament had the power to allocate up to 50 gas connections to the persons of his choice, but the ever thoughtful Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has provided crores of domestic gas connections free of charge for the marginalized people. Earlier, electricity was provided keeping in mind the need of the district and today a strong plan has been made to provide electricity to the citizens of the remote areas. When I visited the Statue of Liberty in America 34 years ago, I never dreamed that an even bigger statue would be built in India. He added that today he feels the pride of seeing the wonderful creation of the ‘Statue of Unity’, the tallest statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in Gujarat. He added that 40 years ago I had to spend Rs. 6 thousand had to be borrowed, but today a strong framework of innovation and startups has been prepared in the country. In Gujarat, Students are getting scholarship through schemes like Startups, Innovation Lab, Incubator, Search, Mukhyamantri Swavalamban Yojana for research.

Talking about the new education policy, the Vice President said that this education policy is not only a policy of any party or government, but it is the education policy of the entire nation prepared after many deep thoughts and researches, the results of which will be clearly seen in the coming days. He added that due to this policy and technological development, the students of the country will get ample employment opportunities in any corner of the world.

Governor Shri Acharya Devvrat called the Excellence in Higher Education program a day of pride for Gujarat and said that as a result of the visionary planning of the then Chief Minister and the Prime Minister of the country Shri Narendra Modi, today Gujarat has set new standards in all fields.

Governor added that today India is becoming a country of youth, so that the country can develop rapidly in the era of current technology, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has inspired the creation of a new India among the youth through the mantra of innovative aspects like Make in India, Digital India, Startup India, which has been accepted by the whole world today. The results of which we are seeing for the last six-seven years. Today under the guidance of the Prime Minister, air fighter ships, helicopters are being built in India. Today India is exporting the products of army equipment which we had to import, that is the best example of Atmanirbhar Bharat. India has also started the high-speed Vande Bharat train and the bullet train is in progress. As a result of such multiple innovative dimensions, India’s name is growing globally today.

He added that the proof that India was a world-guru country before is that people used to come here to study in universities like Nalanda, Takshashila, Vikramshila. He expressed the belief that today India is moving towards becoming a world leader again through the implementation of the new education policy prepared under the leadership of the country’s Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. He has prepared a new education policy across the country keeping in mind the rural areas. The Governor appealed to everyone to be committed to building a new India by using it practically.

Governor Shri Acharya Devvrat added that today, under the guidance of the Prime Minister, the Agriculture Department under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel has taken up the campaign of natural farming in Gujarat as a public movement, which will mark the country’s future in the future. Electricity, roads, water facilities are also getting uninterrupted in the state. Narmada water has reached Kutch. He expressed confidence that even under Nal Se Jal Yojana clean drinking water has reached every home which will take Gujarat to greater heights.

Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel expressed a clear view that education-knowledge is the foundation of development of the nation-state. He said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has equipped the education sector of Gujarat with world class facilities by glorifying knowledge.

The Chief Minister added that the Prime Minister has given advanced facilities, technology and infrastructure to the youth of Gujarat which are two steps ahead of the times. In this context, he elaborated on the role of demographic dividend and youth power in realizing the innovative concept given by the Prime Minister of self-reliant India including Make in India, Startup India, Atal Innovation Mission, Digital India. The Chief Minister said that as a result of such visionary planning of the Prime Minister, Gujarat is the leading state of the country in innovation and startups. More than 14 thousand startups have become operational successfully in the state and there are more than 180 incubators.

Giving details that Gujarat has been the best performing state in the startup ranking for the last three years, Chief minister Shri Bhupendra Patel said that the state government has launched the Student Startup Innovation Policy 2.0 to boost the talent of the promising youth. Rs 500 crore has been allocated for this purpose, he added. He also gave the role of Mukhyamantri Yuva Swalamban Yojana and assistance schemes like ‘Shodh’ have so far provided financial support to more than three and a half lakh needy students for higher studies.

The Chief Minister expressed confidence that the initiatives taken by Gujarat under the guidance of the Prime Minister in the Center of Excellence for drone technology studies, various sector specific universities and the new education policy will provide more impetus to Gujarat to build atmanirbhar Bharat.

Welcoming the Vice President of India Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar on this land of Mahatma Gandhi and Iron Man Sardar Patel, Education Minister Shri Jitu Vaghani said that this government, giving importance to the mantra of ‘Vishwas thi Vikas’ has achieved high dimensions in all fields including education. The education sector has also achieved many achievements in this developmental change of the state.

At present, 103 universities and more than 3000 colleges are functioning in the state, in which the best higher and technical education is being provided not only to the students of the state, but also to the students coming from abroad.

Shri Jitu Vaghani said that under the “Excellence in Higher Education” program held jointly by the State Education Department and GNLU, today the Vice President of India Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar virtually laid foundation stone and e-launched various projects of Gujarat. Apart from that, with the aim of meeting the global challenges of the 21st century and providing an economic foothold to the students through quality education in the state, E-groundbreaking was done by him for the development of rubber, plastic and chemical engineering branch building and other buildings and infrastructure in the L D college of engineering which is a matter of pride for all of us.

The minister further said that under the guidance of the Chief Minister of the state, Shri Bhupendra Patel, Gujarat has created a special roadmap for the speedy implementation of the new education policy, which is a visionary step for revolution in the education sector of the Prime Minister of the country, Shri Narendra Modi, and Gujarat is a leader in that direction as well.

In this event, Vice President Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar also laid digital foundation stone of various projects at Institute of Infrastructure Technology Research and Management (IITRAM) Ahmedabad and also
e-launched Center of Excellence in Drone Technology. Besides, E-groundbreaking was done for the building of Rubber, Plastic and Chemical Engineering Branch and other buildings and infrastructure development at the L D College of Engineering. In addition, at Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University, Atri Special Learning Support Center, Gurukul Model Learner Support Center and Research Center and Museum have also been e-dedicated. Also at Government Engineering College, Gandhinagar, the building constructed at a cost of Rs 1,754 lakhs was also e-inaugurated.

Startups/entrepreneurs in the legal and environment sectors and recently recruited judges of the state judiciary were felicitated by the Vice President on the occasion. The Education Department has enabled all government and grant-in-aid colleges of higher and technical education campuses with Wi-Fi facility. WiFi Enablement Initiative was launched by the Vice President during the event.

Apart from that, Vice Chancellors and Provosts of various universities were distributed grants under the Education Department’s Student Start Up and Innovation Policy (SSIP 2.0) 2.0 by the Vice President. While scholarships were also distributed to the beneficiaries of the Mukhyamantri Yuva Swavalamban Yojana (MYSY) and stipend to the beneficiaries under the SHODH scheme.

Smt. Dr. Sudesh Dhankhar, State Chief Secretary Shri Pankaj Kumar, Principal Secretary of Education Department Shri S. J. Haider, Chancellor of GNLU Shri S. Shanthakumar and Chancellors of various universities, startup entrepreneurs and students were present.
