Gujarat Chief Minister holds interactive deliberations with cattle owners from different districts under ‘Mokla Mane Samvad’

Chief Minister Vijay Rupani today attributed the success of White Revolution and success stories like Amul Dairy and self reliant in milk production to relentless efforts of cattle owners of the state.

Talking to a group of cattle owners invited from different districts at an interactive question-answer series called ‘Mokla Mane Samvad’ programme as a Common Man at his residence here, the Chief Minister said that the role of milkmaid has also been equally significant in making Gujarat self reliant in animal husbandry.

The deliberations were held strictly as per SOP protocols maintaining social distancing in view of the prevailing global pandemic novel Coronavirus Covid-19.

Mr. Rupani said that Gujarat leads in the country producing 289 lakh lpd milk, contributing to Gujarat’s rural economy humming with activity while the entire world has been passing through lockdown.

Keeping in view the difficulties likely to be faced by cattle owners, he said, the state government has taken several steps like sanctioning Rs 200 crore subsidy. Animal husbandry is treated at par with agriculture in the state, rearing cattle is imperative to add natural nutrients to the soil. The government pays Rs 900 per cow as subsidy. There are cattle owners proudly proclaiming livestock of 60, 200, and even 400 to 500. It is time to revive Gujarat’s ancient glory in cattle wealth.

Nearly 37 lakh people are directly engaged in animal husbandry in the state. Major dairies collect milk from 19,500 villages in the state.

The Chief Minister said that protecting cow as our mother is our duty. The government has framed strong legislation to effectively check cow slaughter, has adopted a compassionate attitude towards animal world through several steps like arranging mobile veterinary vans under Karuna Abhiyan.

He said that Gujarat is progressing by adding to surfaced road network, efficient transportation and animal dispensaries. Amul Dairy ranks among the world’s Top-20. Prime Minister recently inaugurated a dairy plant in Kutch, aimed at creating jobs and increase per capita income.

Referring to his concept, ‘Mokla Mane Samvad’ series of interactive sessions, Mr. Rupani said it is the government invited them to come with their questions and solutions.

Anand’s Sanjaybhai Rabari, who won the best cattle owner with a herd of 500 cows, Sabarkantha’s Rajnikant Parmar, Gondal’s Gitaben, who increased her flock from one to 45 cows earning a profit of Rs 15 lakh, spoke on their success stories.
