    Chief Minister relaunches the “Scheme of Award to the Good Samaritan” for saving the life of a person injured in a road accident in the state

    Gandhinagar, Thursday: Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel said that compliance with the concept ‘4E – Enforcement of Law, Engineering of Road, Emergency Care and Education’ given by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for road safety is very important. The Chief Minister appealed everyone to commit to road safety by following the traffic rules.

    Chief Minister launched the website of Gujarat Road Safety Authority from Gandhinagar in the presence of Minister of State for Transport and Home Department Shri Harsh Sanghvi. The Chief Minister relaunched the “Scheme of Award to the Good Samaritan” for saving the life of a person injured in a road accident in the state.

    CM said that it is our responsibility to prevent traffic and road accidents. Even in the absence of signal system or traffic police, road transport should be made safe by following voluntary rules.

    In incidents such as road accident, the first one hour – the golden hour is very important, people should come forward to save the lives of injured, injured people by becoming Good Samaritans. Our culture teaches only kindness towards living beings. It is everyone’s duty to come forward to save precious human life, he added.

    Minister of State for Transport Shri Harsh Sanghvi said that, Even today, there is a misconception among people that if we take people injured in a road accident to the hospital, there will be a case or action against us. Good Samaritan Award was started to overcome this mentality of people. The Good Samaritan scheme is not just a scheme but a campaign and a responsibility of all of us. If everyone from city to villages is aware about this scheme then many lives can be saved in the state.

    As a result of various campaigns launched by the government regarding road safety, the number of road accidents in our state has reduced significantly in the last few years and also saved lives at the time of accidents. The Minister added that the Good Samaritan Award will be an important means to take this noble work of saving people’s lives a step further in the future.

    Requesting the District Collectors present in the program Shri Sanghvi said that, The state government will not only honor the heroes who take the injured to the hospital in the golden hour during the road accident, but even at the district level, if such heroes are honored in public places, it will be an inspiration to the society. Along with this, the misunderstanding among the people will be removed and the Good Samaritan scheme launched by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will also become effective, the minister added.

    Additional Chief Secretary to Ports and Transport Department Shri M.K. Das delivered his occasional address. Road Safety Commissioner Shri L.P. Padlia informed everyone about the Good Samaritan scheme.

    Additional Chief Secretary of Home Department Shri Rajkumar, Additional Chief Secretary of Ports and Transport Department Shri M. K. Das, Principal Secretary of Education Department Shri S. J. Haider, Principal Secretary of Health Ms. Shahmeena Husain, Secretary-Home Department Shri. Nipuna Torwane and Senior officers were present on the occasion. Apart from this, the Collectors of all the districts also participated in this program virtually.
