State government’s Development and Employment Department’s novel initiative under the direction of Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel
Shram Niketan will be set up in the GIDC which employs over 15 thousand workers
The construction of Shram Niketan Hostel will be done at an approximate cost of Rs. 10 crores in 4138 square meters on PPP basis which will be completed in 28 months
Gandhinagar, Friday: Under the guidance of Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel, the Government of Gujarat has launched a novel initiative for the workers and their dependents seeking employment in the industrial estates of the state.
The Shram Niketan Yojana has been implemented by the Labour Welfare Board ran by the Labour Skill Development and Employment Department of the State Government.
Such labour camps will be set up to accommodate the labourers in the industrial estates where more than 15 thousand workers are employed. For this purpose, the Shram Niketan Yojana will be publicized in consultation with the organizations of various industrial estates of the state.
Shram Niketan Hostel will provide accommodation facility to all the labourers, including labourers from other states as well coming for employment in large scale industries operating in Gujarat, growth engine of the country.
Considering the standard of living of the workers, the difficulty of their stay can be largely avoided with such hostel.
MoU was signed in Gandhinagar between Sanand GIDC Industrial Association and Welfare Commissioner, Labour Welfare Board in the presence of Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel to initiate the first such Shram Niketan in Gujarat.
In addition to the ground floor, this labourers’ hostel will have 7 floors and will be constructed in 4138 square meters. This hostel-Shram Niketan with state-of-the-art facilities like Labour Welfare Centre, Multipurpose Hall, Dining Hall will be completed on PPP basis in approximately Rs. 10 crores in 28 months.
The hostel constructed in collaboration with Sanand GIDC Industrial Association, will accommodate over 1000 labourers.
Not only this but single occupancy and double occupancy rooms which can accommodate 4, 8, 12 to 24 individuals will be constructed.
Sanand Industrial Association’s President Mr. Ajitbhai Shah and Mr. Digant Brahmbhatt, Welfare Commissioner signed the MoU on behalf of the State Government.
On the occasion of this MoU, Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Shri Pankaj Joshi, Principal Secretary of Labour Skill Development and Employment Department Dr. Mrs. Anju Sharma, Labour Commissioner Mr. Anupam Anand were present.
