National Conference of Ministers of Youth Affairs and Sports of States-UTs at Ekta Nagar, Statue of Unity

    Gandhinagar, Saturday: Under the leadership and guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, country’s first two-day conference “National Conference” of Ministers of Youth Affairs and Sports of States/UTs held at Ekta Nagar Tent City, Statue of Unity.

    The conference was attended by Sports Ministers, Sports Secretaries and senior officials of the concerned Ministries of the Government of India from various States and Union Territories of the country.

    On the second day of the National Conference Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel joined with Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Shri Anurag Singh Thakur, Union Minister of State for Sports Nisith Pramanik and Minister of State for Sports, Youth Services and Cultural Affairs and Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi.

    The brainstorming and conclusions reached in this National Conference will be very important in making India’s sports ecosystem more sophisticated under the direction of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, said the Chief Minister.

    Under the guidance of Prime Minster new approaches like Khelo India, Fit India, and International Yoga Day have been adopted. This has created a new wave of sports and fitness in the country. Equipped with state-of-the-art training, the players have the opportunity to excel in world class sports.

    In this context, the Chief Minister elaborated on the success of Khel Mahakumbh started by the Prime Minister in Gujarat. Recently Gujarat Sports Policy has also been launched. This policy will provide guidance in the next stages of development in this sector.

    Swarnim Gujarat Sports University has become a viable medium for imparting scientific training to athletes and has also become a field of sports career building.

    Every state, union territories of the country has its own distinct, diverse sporting heritage, heritage of traditional sports. The collective brainstorming of this conference will be an excellent platform in that direction.

    The National Conference was attended by Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Shri Anurag Singh Thakur, Union Minister of State for Sports Nisith Pramanik, Minister of State for Sports, Youth Services and Cultural Affairs and Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi, Sports Ministers of various states, Central Secretary to Sports Department Mrs. Sujata Chaturvedi, Union Secretary for Youth Affairs Shri Sanjeev Kumar, Principal Secretary to Sports and Youth Services and Cultural Activities, Gujarat Shri Ashwini kumar, Senior officials of Sports Authority of India, Secretaries, Commissioners of the Department of Sports and Youth Activities of various states.
