CM makes e-launching of various Panchayat Bhavans of tehsil and district panchayats of Gujarat

Terming the ‘Panchayati Raj Vyavastha’ (Panchayati Governance System) as the “Soul” of Gujarat, Chief Minister Mr. Vijaybhai Rupani said that Mahatma Gandhiji’s concept of decentralization of the power from Parliament to Village Panchayat and to make the latter as mini-assembly has been successfully implemented as the Panchayati Raj Vyavastha in Gujarat.

Through a video conference from Gandhinagar, the Chief Minister was addressing a function held to dedicate to the people the newly built offices of Dholera and Ghogha tehsils and ‘Bhoomi Pujan’ of offices of Surat, Panchmahal district panchayats and Viramgam and Dhandhuka tehsils.

The event was also attended by Minister of State for Panchayat Mr. Jaydrathsinhji Parmar from Gandhinagar and members of council of ministers from their respective places.

For the construction of Panchayat Bhavan of Surat and Panchmahal Districts – Gujarat Government has allocated a fund of Rs. 29.40-Cr and Rs. 23.06-Cr, respectively. Similarly a fund of Rs. 2.40-Cr each was allocated for the construction of Tehsil Panchayat Bhavan for Viramgam, Dhandhuka, Dholera, and Ghogha tehsils.

The Chief Minister further stated that the transparent approach of depositing the fund directly into the bank accounts of village, tehsil and district panchayats adopted by Prime Minister Mr. Narendrabhai Modi has changed the past scenario of holding back the developmental works in want of fund.

Expressing an expectation that these new Bhavan will become a centre of services for the citizens, Mr. Rupani said that these offices have been built to provide services to last common man with prompt and easy use of the technology in better environment.

He further stated that as a result of cooperation from the citizen in adopting the precautionary measures for prevention of transmission of Corona virus, the patient recovery ratio is 85 per cent and death ratio is reduced to 2.5 per cent in Gujarat.

Others who spoke on the occasion, included Mr. Jaydrathsinhji Parmar, Mr. A. K. Rakesh, Additional Chief Secretary, Panchayat Department, and Mr. Thakkar, Development Commissioner
