Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Vijay Rupani visited city-based Wildlife Care Centre and Namonam Centre at Dharnidhar to inspect treatment of birds injured by strings while flying kites.
CM Shri Rupani appealed to the people to ensure the birds are not injured by the kites, as part of the statewide ‘Karuna Abhiyan’ from January 10 to 20, 2017 for creating awareness and alerting people to be compassionate towards the birds.
The campaign is being carried out by the government employees of Forest, Veterinary and Education Departments and Voluntary Organizations, under the supervision of municipal commissioners and district collectors all over the state.
Referring to actions taken to check the spread of Bird Flu, CM Shri Rupani said he had issued instructions to all concerned to take urgent and effective steps.
CM Shri Rupani was accompanied by Ahmedabad Mayor Shri Gautam Shah, Additional Chief Secretary of Forest and Environment Shri Arvind Agrawal, Municipal Corporators and office-bearers of the NGOs.
