Gujarat Governor Mr. Acharya Devvrat delivering his greetings to
the citizens ‘At Home Function’ organized as a part of the 71 st Republic Day
celebration being held at Rajkot, stated that on this auspicious, significant
national festival we should take a pledge to fulfill the dreams envisaged by the
martyrs to take the nation to new peaks.
Paying tributes to the martyrs, in the presence of Chief Minister Mr. Vijaybhai
Rupani, leading citizens, freedom fighters, and large numbers of gatherings of
the citizens, at the state level celebration of the 71 st Republic Day being held at
Rajkot, the Governor said that we have availed the happiness of freedom due
to the martyrdom made by the brave martyrs. The national festival should be
celebrated in a way and manners that it inspires our future generations owing
to the great contributions made by the martyrs during India’s freedom struggle
and learn about our rich cultural traditions.
The Governor further stated that ‘At Home’ programme is being organized
since British era. The Britishers were organizing this at their convenience by
inviting the local folks to collect the information with an intention to
strengthen their authority. This tradition should be changed and the ‘At Home’
programme should be organized to remember the patriotisms of the martyrs.
The Governor had welcomed the decision of Prime Minister Mr. Narendrabhai
Modi, when he was Chief Minister of Gujarat, to celebrate the national
festivals at the district level. As a result of these efforts, the national festivals
have become public festivals and developmental festivals in the real sense.
The governor also praised the contributions made in the national development
by the industrialists from Saurashtra region.
On the occasion, the governor urged the citizens to take a pledge to take the
state and nation to the peaks of development through taking the state
government’s public welfare policy using karma mantra of ‘Sauno Sath, Sauno
Vikas’ (collective efforts, inclusive growth) to the minds of common people.
The event was also graced by first lady Mrs. Darshna Devi, Education Minister
Mr. Bhupendrasinh Chudasama, Mrs. Anjaliben Rupani, and others. On the
occasion, noted Rajkot’s musician Mr. Pankaj Bhatt and his teams had
presented many patriotic songs.
