Gandhinagar, 1 August 2023: Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel stated that the participation of women is important for sustainable and inclusive economic development. Speaking in this context, he said that Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has shown a new direction to India and the world in women empowerment.
Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel inaugurated a two-day seminar on W-20: Women-led Development-Ensuring Sustainable Inclusive and Equitable Global Economic Growth under G20 at Mahatma Mandir, Gandhinagar.
Union Minister for Women and Child Development Smt. Smriti Irani, Union MoS Dr. Mahendra Munjapara, CEO of NITI Aayog Shri B.V.R. Subrahmanyam, senior officers from the Central Government, and women representatives from G20 nations are participating in the summit.
The CM added that the state government is dedicated to women’s empowerment and holistic growth under Hon’ble PM’s guidance. Gujarat earned the repute of initiating a Gender Budget in India in 2014.
“The state government has adopted a three-tier strategy of Health, Security, and Education for women empowerment,” added the CM.
He also gave details on the fact that 26 lakh women have been entrusted with businesses worth crores of rupees by 25 lakh Sakhi Mandals for the economic empowerment of rural women.
The CM also mentioned that the Female Literacy Rate in the state has increased to 70 percent and the enrolment rate has increased to 90 percent owing to the Kanya Kelavani started by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for making girl education a public movement.
With the spirit of developing Gujarat through women’s development, the CM also pointed out that the budget of departments associated with women and child development has increased by 42 percent this year compared to previous years.
G20 EMPOWER KPI dashboard, the Best Practices Playbook, the G20 EMPOWER Communique 2023, and Tech Equity Digital Inclusion platforms were launched during the inaugural session.
