“New India not built by Central or State Governments, not by the politicians, but by the cooperation and strength of the people”
“Need for people to realize the dream of New India by 75th anniversary of India in 2022, by converting symbolic run into action”
– Narendra Modi
Even as India celebrates 75th anniversary of its Independence in 2022, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today exhorted the people of Surat to participate with éclat and enthusiasm in resurgence of India in large number, and convert the dream into reality.
Speaking at a function to flag off ‘Run for New India’ Marathon at Surat, he said New India is not built by the Central or State Government, not by the politicians, but by the cooperation and strength of the people. No power on the earth can stop India becoming a strong nation.
Mr. Modi said the way Mahatma Gandhi had resolved to free India through Quit India Movement in 1942 and attained Independence in 1947, he asked 125-crore people of India to resolve now to establish India’s dominance in the world in the next five years by the 75th anniversary of India’s Independence in 2022. There is need to rise above casteism, communalism and corruption, with respect for girl child and women. India is on the threshold of realizing the dream and it is an opportune time.
He said that marathons like this are arranged for charity and social cause. But he reposed his confidence on the purushartha or the capability of the people of Surat, known to achieve what they desire, to get things done through action and cooperation of all. He wished the Surati Lalas set new world records during ‘Run for Unity’ on the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth anniversary on October 31 and celebrate ‘International Yoga Day’ on June 21.
Mr. Modi said that sports and games have created spirit de corps and competition among the people to take India to greater heights and build a New India.
Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani congratulated the people of Surat, old and young, youth and divyang (physically challenged) for participating in the marathon for building New India.
Prominent among those who participated in ‘Run for New India’ included Deputy Chief Minister Nitinbhai Patel, BJP State president Jitubhai Vaghani, Tribal Forest & Tourism Minister Ganpatsinh Vasava, Social Justice and Empowerment Ministerr Ishwarbhai Parmar, Minister of State for Health Family Welfare Kishorebhai Kanani, MPs C.R.
