Prime Minister inaugurates & lays foundation stone of developmental works worth Rs. 21 thousand crore in a single day

    Gandhinagar, Saturday: Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in the presence of Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel today dedicated and laid foundation stone of various 18 projects of worth Rs. 16,369 crore of Railway in Gujarat. In addition, he also dedicated and laid foundation stone of developmental works of worth Rs. 21000 crore of various departments including railway in five districts of Central Gujarat.

    The Prime Minister emphasized that, “Rapid development of women and their empowerment is equally important for the rapid development of 21st century India”. We have implemented various schemes and have made several decisions for the upliftment of women in the field of their choice and now many new fields are knocking their doors. In the last eight years of good governance of the double engine government we have made attempts to make Nari Shakti (women power) the axis of India’s development.

    In this context, the Prime Minister added that the problems of women have been reduced through effective implementation of women oriented schemes. It is the priority of our Government to give equal opportunity to women in all sectors and ease their lives.

    The Prime Minister launched State Government’s Mukhyamantri Matru Shakti Yojana and Poshan Sudha Yojana in 14 tribal areas of the state under the Integrated Child Development Scheme of the Women and Child Development Department taking care of the nutrition of women including pregnant ladies. Nutrition kits were distributed to the beneficiaries of this newly launched scheme by the Prime Minister. Beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana were also handed over with keys of their houses.

    The Prime Minister virtually laid the foundation stone of Gujarat Central University campus to be established at Kundhela near Vadodara as well of Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya Bhavan to be established at NAIR Campus at Vadodara and of various railway construction works.

    Shri Modi said that today is the day of Matru vandana (mother worship) for me. After seeking blessings from my mother i took blessings from goddess Mahakali in Pavagadh and now i have the fortune to address the immense gathering of Martu Shakti. I prayed to goddess Mahakali for the happiness, peace and prosperity of the nation as well as for the development of the nation.

    The 21,000 crore development projects in Gujarat today will strengthen India’s development commitment with the development of Gujarat. Not only that, housing, higher education and road connectivity will expand the industrial area of Gujarat and will prove to be helpful in providing many types of self-employment and employment opportunities to the youths, added Prime Minister.

    Gujarat Government has ensured that women get proper nutrition during pregnancy and has implemented Mukhyamantri Matrushakti Yojana at a cost of Rs 811 crore. Poshan Sudha Yojana has been extended to cover all the 14 tribal districts of Gujarat. Through which pregnant women will be given lunch by the government which will empower the future generation.

    Mentioning that the government’s plans have been effective in eradicating the problem of malnutrition in Gujarat two decades ago, Shri Modi said, we have not just implemented schemes but have also created proper environment for women. Keeping in view the problem of malnutrition in Gujarat, women and their children have been nourished through Dudhsanjivani Yojana, Iodized Salt, Take Home Ration, PURNA Yojana, and Fortified Flour. For its effective implementation, Gujarat has received the Civil Service Award.

    Detailing of various schemes Shri Modi said that, 14 lakh Anganwadi children have been provided with fortified flour and 12 lakh Adolescent Girls between the age group of 14 and 18 have been provided with the benefit of Purna Yojana. With the positive results obtained in the pilot implementation of Poshan Sudha Yojana, it has been implemented by the Government of Gujarat in all the 14 tribal districts of the state, which will benefit 1.36 lakh women of the state. The health of women and children is monitored in a timely manner through technology of application in the e-Mamta project. Devices have been provided to 11.50 crore Anganwadi workers and Asha workers in the country including 12 lakh in Gujarat. For creating awareness about this September month is celebrated as Nutrition Month.

    The Government is also concerned about the proper environment and health of women and are provided with cooking gas. We have also provided tap water connections. Women have been honoured by building toilets in every house. Under Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana benefits of Rs 400 crore have been given to 9 lakh women in Gujarat, said Prime Minister.

    Tribal families in Gujarat have been suffering from sickle cell anemia for years. This diseases was ignored by many governments in Gujarat. But we have taken steps to eliminate it and research has been done for it by forming Sickle Cell Society.

    Referring to 50 percent seats been reserved for women in Panchayati Raj Institutions the Prime Minister said that, Under Mission Mangalam, 26 lakh Nari Shakti have been linked with 2.60 lakh Sakhi Mandals in Gujarat. In which tribal, poor, deprived women have joined and with receiving economic strength they have become a partner in the economy. To make women more financially capable, the loan limit for Sakhi Mandals has been increased from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 20 lakh. Among the loan recipients under Mudra Yojana about 70 percent are women.

    Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi with affection said that today the dream of 1.41 lakh poor families of having a home has come true. Earlier women did not have any single penny of property  entitled against their name. But now the situation has transformed . Houses of Rs. 3000 crore have been entitled for women in Gujarat. In Gujarat, houses have been provided to 10.50 lakh  poor people residing in urban areas, 7.50 lakh people residing in rural areas and 4.5 lakh people belonging to the middle class families. Gujarat is leading in the scheme of providing houses on rent at cheaper rates in cities.

    Under the PM SVANidhi scheme, bank loans are being given to street vendors so that small business traders do not fall into the cycle of interest.

    While stating the various railway projects Prime Minister said that it will give impetus to the development of Gujarat. With the implementation of this project, connectivity with Gujarat’s ports will increase and it will increase economic activity and create local employment.  Mango produced in Kutch has been made to reach foreign countries which is the best example to describe increasing connectivity.

    The country’s first railway institute was at Vadodara. Now it has been transformed into Bharatiya Gati Shakti University. Students from all across the country will benefit from it and various projects and research works of PM Gatishakti Yojana will be carried out here. Alongwith MS University Vadodara now also has Sport and Central University. By giving Govind Guru University to Godhra a tribal area and Birsa Munda University to Narmada, a new direction of education has been enhanced in this area.

    Gujarat has implemented new development plans with cooperation of government and public participation Gujarat will reach new heights of development. Prime Minister added saying that we will continuously keep moving ahead with the blessings of manpower to take the country to new heights.

    Prime Minister who  got emotional while chewing his memories with Vadodara said that Vadodara is the perfect city to celebrate Matrushakti. Vadodara gives culture like mother, that is why this city is a cultured city.The city offers opportunities to move forward with the joys as well as sorrows.This town is a town of inspiration. The city has inspired great men like Swami Vivekananda, Maharshi Arvind, Vinoba Bhave and Baba Saheb Ambedkar.  I had the good fortune to dedicate the monument Dilaram Bungalow associated with Swami Vivekananda Ramakrishna Mission.

    The Prime Minister congratulated the Vadodara Municipal Corporation for issuing the bonds and also gave an overview of the development work done in Vadodara in the last two decades.

    Shri Bhupendra Patel said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is the pioneer of the work-culture of ‘do what you say’. A single week doesn’t pass without him not doing developmental works, by gifting development works worth more than Rs. 21,500 crores to Gujarat he has once again it.

    The Chief Minister further said that Gujarat has made unprecedented progress with the initiative of new development and the adopted policy of ‘Sauno Saath, Sauno Vikas’ taken by Shri Narendra Modi as the then Chief Minister of Gujarat. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, who raised the pride of Gujarat, is now raising the pride of Maa Bharti globally. Shri Narendrabhai Modi’s government has become the architect of the new India, he added.

    The Chief Minister gave details of various development works related to housing, energy, water, roads, railways, urban amenities and education sector to be dedicated to the people by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in the second phase of Gujarat Gaurav Abhiyan.

    The Chief Minister also presented a glimpse of the achievements that Gujarat has achieved in various fields of development by being a leader in the country.

    The Chief Minister expressed the view that consistent works of development, plans of development, and politics of development are woven in the nature of the Prime Minister. CM called upon to follow the path suggested by PM which would result in making Gujarat reach new heights.
