    Union Home Minister unveils Mahatma Gandhi’s mural made from clay kulhads at Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad

    Gandhiji’s determination to liberate the nation from British Empire a source of inspiration for all of us: Union Home Minister


    Gandhinagar, Sunday: On the occasion of Martyr’s Day as well as “Gandhi Nirvan Din” Union Home Minister Mr. Amit Shah paid tribute to The Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi by unveiling the grand wall mural of Mahatma Gandhi at Sabarmati Riverfront House, Ahmedabad. On this instance he said that, Thoughts like simplicity, indigenous, Swabhasha, Satyagraha and Sadhanshuddhi of the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi are just as important and relevant even today for the reconstruction of India.

    This wall mural is made from 2,975 clay kulhads by Indian artisans.

    Addressing the gathering Mr. Shah credited Gandhi’s will power and determination  to liberate the country from the British Empire and also mentioned it as an act of  inspiration for all of us.

    On this occasion, Union Home Minister, also clarified Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi’s purpose behind Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav with regard to 75th anniversary of India’s Independence and said that, the future of India will be informed about the contribution of our freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the independence of India from 1857 to 1947. He also said that this Amrit Mahotsav also gives us an opportunity to set the goals of 100 years of India’s independence.

    Mr. Shah said that Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi has also done a commendable job of reviving Gandhi Bapu’s ideas of Khadi, Swadeshi, Swabhasha and Handicrafts. He further added that, When Mr. Narendra Modi was the Chief Minister of Gujarat, he started giving impetus to the idea by buying khadi. He further said that the Prime Minister also linked the slogan “Khadi for Nation” with “Khadi for Fashion” to promote the Khadi industry. Union Home Minister Mr. Amit Shah on this occasion requested all the citizens to take inspiration from Bapu’s life and said that Bapu lived the life of a silent ascetic and Karmayogi and his life remained his message.

    Urging the citizens to maintain their relationship with Swabhasha, the Union Home Minister said that if we break our relationship with Swabhasha, our relationship with culture will also be broken.

    Union Home Minister also appealed to the citizens present on the occasion to use khadi to give an opportunity to the poor of the country to live a life of pride. He added that khadi is just as relevant today as it was in earlier times.

    On the occasion, the Union Home and Co-operation Minister distributed electric chakda (potter wheel) to potters and beekeeping boxes to beekeepers(Apiarist).

    On this occasion, Gujarat Chief Minister Mr. Bhupendra Patel thanked Union Home Minister Mr. Amit Shah for giving a new gift to Ahmedabad which enhances the dignity and beauty of Sabarmati Riverfront and said that, this mural of Bapu, prepared by the Khadi Village Industry Commission of the Government of India, is a heartfelt tribute to Pujya Bapu on Gandhi Nirvan Din.

    Expressing confidence that, this mural of Mahatma Gandhi at the Riverfront House in Ahmedabad would become a new center of attraction for the citizens and tourists of the city, he informed that, This mural is made from 2975 clay pots made by 75 skilled artisans from all over the country. This 100 square meter mural is the perfect tribute to Pujya Bapu in the 75th year of Independence. Not only that, there can be no other place special than the Sabarmati Riverfront for Gandhiji’s mural, known as the saint of Sabarmati.

    Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi inaugurated the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav of Independence from this bank of Sabarmati river. Not only that, Mahatma Gandhi inspired the country with khadi from the banks of Sabarmati river in Ahmedabad, he added.

    Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel said that Gandhiji has always been an advocate of traditional crafts. Today, under the guidance of Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Mr. Amit Shah, to realize this dream of Gandhiji, the country is moving towards realization of the path of self-government in the name of self-reliant India.

    In a self-reliant India, the products of the country’s handicraftsmen, traditional housewives are being introduced to the world with the mantra of ‘Vocal for Local’, said Gujarat Chief Minister clearly.

    Gujarat Chief Minister recalled that Pujya Bapu Mahatma Gandhi always said that khadi is not a garment but an idea and Gandhiji made charkha the main weapon to fight against the British. Not only that, Mahatma Gandhi wanted to combine agriculture and khadi to make it a tool of Swaraj and today Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi  is fulfilling that dream.

    He further added that the Prime Minister himself wears khadi and also inspires others to wear it. That is why Our Prime Minister has urged the countrymen to buy at least one khadi cloth or khadi fabrication to brighten the life of the rural Antyodayas. Gujarat Chief Minister also appealed to the people of Gujarat to buy khadi in this direction.

    On this occasion, MSME Minister of Government of India Mr. Narayan Rane said that, unique tribute has been paid to Gandhi Bapu through this mural of Mahatma Gandhi installed in Riverfront House, Ahmedabad. He added that Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi has given a new impetus to the idea of job creation through khadi.

    Welcoming the gathering, on this occasion Chairman of Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), VK Saxena,said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi and under  the guidance of Union Home Minister Mr. Amit Shah, khadi and village industries have been receiving uninterrupted impetus. 135 percentage growth has been recorded. Mr. Saxena thanked the Union Home Minister for attending the unveiling of the mural of Mahatma Gandhi made of clay kulhad.

    On this occasion Cabinet Minister Mr. Pradip Parmar, Ministher of State for all the Home Departments Mr. Harsh Sanghavi, Mr. Jagdish Vishwakarma, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation  Mayor Mr. Kirit Parmar, Former State Home Minister Mr. Pradispsinh Jadeja, MP Mr. Kirit Solanki, MLA Mr. Arvind Patel, Mr. Babu Patel, BJP Leader Mr. Surendra Patel, District Collector Mr. Sandeep Sagle, District Devlopment Officer Mr. Anil Dhameliya   including dignitaries were present.
