Prime Minister Mr. Narendrabhai Modi will launch ‘Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav’ from Sabarmati Ashram

Besides main celebration at Sabarmati Ashram, celebration will be conducted at 75 places, including six important districts, in Gujarat

Ahmedabad: The nation-wide celebration of ‘Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav’ organized to mark the 75th celebration of India’s independence will be launched by Prime Minister Mr. Narendrabhai Modi from historical ‘Sabarmati Ashram’, which was the central point of India’s free movement and ‘Karma Bhoomi’ of Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhiji, on March 12.

This celebration will be conducted simultaneously at 75 places, including six important districts, in Gujarat.

This mega event will also be attended by Gujarat Governor Mr. Acharya Devvrat, Chief Minister Mr. Vijaybhai Rupani, Leader of Opposition in Gujarat Assembly – Mr. Paresh Dhanani, Mr. Prahlad Singh Patel – Minister of State for Tourism and Cultural Department, Government of India, Member of Parliament and BJP State President Mr. C R Patil, Trustees of Sabarmati Ashram — Mr. Kartikeya Sarabhai, Mr. Amrut Modi, and Dr. Sudarshan Iyengar.

The commencement of celebration of ‘Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav’ will be flagged-off by the Prime Minister from historical Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad in memory of historical ‘Dandi March’ covering distance of 368 km between Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad and Dandi at Navsari.

Various patriotic programmes will also be conducted at important places of India’s free movement and places falling on route of this historical Dandi Yatra such as Rajkot, Mandvi (Kutch), Porbandar, Vadodara, Bardoli (Surat), and Dandi (Navsari). Beside these, other programmes such as cultural, cycle and bike rallies, pad-yatras, tree plantations, and craft bazars will also be conducted.

The celebration programmes at Rajkot will be attended by Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Nitinbhai Patel and Pankajbhai Bhatt. Mahatma Gandhi had acquired his primary education in Rajkot. His wife, Kasturba also had many wonderful memories attached to Rajkot city.

Meanwhile, the celebrations at Gujarat’s cultural capital city Vadodara, which was karma bhoomi of Maharshi Arvind, will be attended by Gujarat Assembly Speaker Mr. Rajendra Trivedi.

The celebration at Surat city, which earned title of ‘Sardar’ for Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel for his satyagrah in oppose to the levy imposed on farmers by the Britishers, will be attended by Gujarat Education Minister Mr. Bhupendrasinh Chudasama. Similarly the celebration at Porbandar, the birth place of Mahatma Gandhiji, will be attended by Minister Mr. R. C. Faldu. A pad-yatra and cycle rally, covering distance between Kirti Mandir and Chaupati, have also been organized at Porbandar.

The celebration at Navsari, a historical place from where Gandhiji had launched his famous Salt Satyagrah that ultimately bent the mighty British Empire, will be attended by Minister of State Mr. Ishwarsinh Patel. The celebration at Mandvi (Kutch), the birth place of freedom fighter Mr. Shamir Krishna Vera, will be attended by Minister of State Mr. Vasanbhai Ahir.

The district and taluka administrations at all the places have completed their preparations for grand success of the celebration. An overwhelming enthusiasm is being witnessed among the people at all the places.
