Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi lays foundation stone for redevelopment of 21 railways stations in Gujarat and a total of 508 railway stations in India under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme from New Delhi

87 railways stations in Gujarat will be converted to iconic places under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme
Gandhinagar, August 06: Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the redevelopment of 508 Railway Stations across the country via video conferencing from New Delhi.
Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel participated in this event from the Asarva Railway Station in Ahmedabad. During this event, the CM stated that railways have become an important medium of connecting culture, tourism and pilgrimages across India under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.
508 railway stations at a cost of ₹24,000 crores will be redeveloped under the Amrit Bharat Station Yojana, under PM’s guidance. Out of this, 21 railway stations in Gujarat will be redeveloped at a cost of ₹845 crores.
The 9 years of Good Governance under PM have provided world-class infrastructure and expansion of services in railways, roads, and air.
“Works worth ₹30,800 crores are underway for the expansion of rail services and infrastructural facilities. The Government of India has allocated ₹8332 crores for FY 2023-24,” added the CM.
PM has shown that dedication to public welfare and promotion of Ease of Living can provide historical results. India has got 25 Vande Bharat trains which are produced indigenously. Out of these, 2 have been given to Gujarat. In addition, work for India’s First Bullet Train is in progress.
The CM added that Vista dome coach and railway connectivity to the Statue of Unity are promoting tourism. Also, the Kisan Rail is ensuring that farmers’ produce reaches the market.
PM has set a target of converting India’s railway stations to iconic places under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. 87 stations of Gujarat will reap its benefits, he added.
The CM elaborated on the Prime Minister’s vision of the Gati Shakti University in Vadodara and the re-operation of the railway engine factory in Dahod.
On this occasion, Rajya Sabha MP Shri Narhari Amin stated that during the nine-year tenure of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, significant changes have occurred in all sectors of the country. Today, infrastructure is advancing rapidly across the nation, and the pioneering efforts to modernise 508 railway stations throughout the country stand as a matter of pride for the entire nation.
He continued that ever since Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi took charge of the country, he has placed significant emphasis on the infrastructure sector, leading to rapid progress in the country’s infrastructure over the course of nine years.
MP Shri Kirit Solanki stated that under the Amrit Bharat Station Yojna, 508 railway stations have been developed across the country under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. Additionally, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has performed e-bhoomipujan for 21 railway stations in the state, including 9 from the Ahmedabad Division. Indian Railways is making rapid progress in the direction of modernization, aligning with the vision of a New India set forth by the Government of India.
The development of railway stations across the country into world-class facilities is progressing at a rapid pace.
The railway stations to be redeveloped in Gujarat include Asarva, Bhachau, Bhaktinagar, Bharuch, Botad Junction, Dabhoi Junction, Derol Junction, Dhangdhara, Himatnagar, Kalol Junction, Keshod, Miyagam Karjan Junction, New Bhuj, Palanpur Junction, Patan, Pratapnagar, Sanjan, Savarkundla, Surendranagar, Viramgam, and Vishwamitri Junction.
The facilities that will be available at this railway station will transform it into a city centre with amenities such as a roof plaza, shopping zone, food court, kids’ play area, and more.
In addition to this, separate entry and exit gates, multi-level parking, lifts, escalators, executive lounges, waiting areas, traveller facilities, and disabled-friendly amenities will be provided for the convenience of passengers.
Hence, the redeveloped station will serve as the hub for social and economic activities in the region, facilitated by the coordination of multi-modal connectivity.
During this program, Minister of State Shri Jagdish Vishwakarma, Ahmedabad Mayor Shri Kirit Parmar, Chief Secretary Shri Raj Kumar, Ahmedabad District Collector Smt. Praveena D.K., MLAs, councillors, DRM Shri Sudhir Kumar Sharma, railway officials and office bearers, along with a large number of citizens, were present.
