    Gandhinagar, Wednesday: Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel inaugurated the newly constructed “Ram Van” The Urban Forest at an approximate cost of Rs. 13.77 crore  by Rajkot Municipal Corporation which is spread over 47 acres of land near Aji dam.

    The Chief Minister bowed down to  the statue of Lord Ram and took an overview of Ram Van and also inaugurated 23 electric buses and their charging stations and gave the  green light to the buses.

    On this occasion Chief Minister said that by constructing Rajkot Ram Van,  Rajkot has truly lived up to the motto of Clean and Green Rajkot. On the auspicious occasion of Janmashtami,  the joy of the people of Rajkot has been doubled alongwith with the gift of Ram Van and by inaugurating and laying foundation for various projects. Under the leadership of the Prime Minister, our team Gujarat has worked on new dimensions. Holistic and inclusive development has been achieved in harmony with the environment. A new frontier has been created by creating cultural forests.

    It is our moral responsibility to protect the environment.  The state has seen a growth in sales of electronic vehicles. The government has adopted the approach of introducing more and more electric buses for public transport. 23 electric buses and their charging centres have been gifted to Rajkot today. This system will help Rajkot to become a city free from pollution and maintain clean environment. Chief Minister added.

    Chief Minister further said that The Prime Minister has given a call to the country from the Red Fort to take five resolutions in this Amrit Kaal. In which the first resolution is developed India. A developed Gujarat is inevitable for a developed India. Under the leadership of the Prime Minister for two decades, Gujarat has become a model state and growth engine of the country. Let us make a pollution free and self-reliant Gujarat through environment friendly development.

    On this occasion Mayor Shri Pradip Dav said that Today colourful Rajkot has become a cultural, religious and historical city with the inauguration of Ram Van. Rajkot has developed tremendously in all fields.Bridges have also been constructed to solve the traffic problems which will be launched soon. \

    It is worth mentioning here that, The main motive behind the construction of Ram Van is to preserve the cultural natural heritage of India and in the present times when cement concrete forests are growing, large scale tree plantation is very necessary for the balance of nature. Rajkot Municipal Corporation has created an urban forest based on the theme of Lord Rama’s life, which aims to create a living experience of the mythical times for people. The main door of which is bow-shaped and an attempt has been made to revive the life story of Lord Rama. Apart from this, Ram Setu Bridge, Adventure Bridge, Renovation of Natural Water Source, Children Play-ground, Amphitheatre with a capacity of 150 and Rashivan are other attractions developed in Ram Van.

    Apart from this, about 80,000 species have been planted in 25 blocks out of which 2 blocks have been planted based on Miyawaki theme.  In modern times, to achieve environmental conservation by making “maximum use of minimum space” in arid and rocky areas “through public cooperation” to establish a “Miyawaki-themed” forest based on Japanese technology by planting different types of trees, shrubs, creepers etc. in permanent form will be preserved.  By using this method, animals and birds, Ayurvedic and abundant oxygen-giving rainforest trees have been planted.The trees of the entire area of ​​Ram Van will be watered by drip irrigation method. So that water consumption is minimized and only seepage recycled water will be used for growing trees.

    22 different replicas based on the life of Lord Shri Ram have been installed in Ram Van at a cost of Rs.1.61 crore. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has undertaken various works and projects with the campaign to make the entire country full of forests keeping the idea of ​​environmental protection at the centre. “Ramvan Urban Forest” constructed in Rajkot will prove to be a very important witness in preventing pollution and preserving the environment besides connecting the future generation with the natural environment.

    A charging station for electric buses has been constructed at a cost of Rs. 11.63 crore at 80’ feet road within the space of 15,200 sq.m.  In this charging station facilities including HT power connection of 3100 watts, 2 transformers of 2500 watts, panel room, cable duct, charging shed for all electric buses including 14 chargers of 240 kilo watts etc. have been made available.

    Rajkot Municipal Corporation has sanctioned 50 electric buses in the first phase, out of which 23 buses were launched earlier. These buses are made to run on BRTS road and one electric bus on AIIMS route. 23 midi electric buses have been launched today.  It will have comfortable seating for a total of 27 passengers. E-bus has features like fully automatic entry and emergency, SOS – Emergency Alarm facility for passenger safety, camera, GPS tracking system, radio system for entertainment etc.

    Chief Minister dedicated Rs. 46.20 development works and laid foundation stone for Rs. 5.94 crore development works. For which Under “Amrut” Yojana Drainage pumping station for Ward no. 12,15,17,18 and inaugurated Quality control laboratory  at Gurukul pumping station Ward no. 14, New Ward office in Ward no. 3 and 4 and  foundation stone for Health Centre at Ward no. 2 Bajrang Wadi was laid by Chief Minister.

    Along with the launch of Ram Van, keeping in mind the holy month of Shravan and the upcoming festivals  people visiting Ram Van will be given free entry till August 28.  The dignitaries appealed to the people to invite more visitors to visit Ram Van.

    The Chief Minister was welcomed with flowers and a replica of Ram Van. Standing Committee Chairman Shri PushkarPatel welcomed the dignitaries and the outline of the entire program was presented by Municipal  Commissioner Shri Amit Arora. Along with this, Minister Shri Jitu Vaghani and former Chief Minister Shri Vijay Rupani delivered occasional speech. Dandak Shri Surendrasinh Vala gave vote of thanks.
