“Swaminarayan sect’s unique contribution to Gujarat’s past and present culture and spirituality,” says Vijay Rupani

Ahmedabad, June 5, 2017: Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani attended the Ghanashyam Mahotsav at Kalupur Swaminarayan Temple here.

Speaking on the occasion, he had a word of praise about the Swaminarayan sect’s contribution to Gujarat in the form of humanity and goodness. The Swaminarayan sect has created a huge group of followers for upholding the virtues of religion and culture for the welfare of the society, saving youth from going astray, from addiction, and rising to the occasion at time of calamities and disasters. It is not an easy task to take man to higher echelons of life and they did it.

He recalled how this Kalupur Swaminarayan Temple has its historical significance too, depicting the India’s war of Independence during 1857 through intricately sculpted wooden carvings. The temple has lately become the centre of people’s cultural and spiritual uplift.

The Chief Minister said that cows, the Ganga and Gita are the nation’s rallying points. He said that his government is concerned that not a single poor went to bed hungry, providing generic drugs at low-prices and distributing food grains at fair prices, at the same time implementing stern penalty against prohibition, cow slaughter and unchecked hike in tuition fee by the schools.

The Kalupur Narnarayan Dev head Acharya Kaushalendraprasadji offered conch shell and shawl to the Chief Minister.

Those present on the occasion included MLA Bhushanbhai Bhatt, Mayor Gautambhai Shah, heir Acharya Vrajendraprasadji, monks and a large number of disciples.
