Gandhinagar, 22 July 2023: To achieve all-around development through irrigation in the state, rivers, lakes and check dams are being deepened, cleaned, and maintained.

The work of deepening and widening the 28 km long Gagdiyo river near Dudhala village of Lathi taluka of Amreli district, has been accomplished. This work has been done with 50:50 percent public participation of the Government of Gujarat and The Dholakia Foundation at a cost of Rs. 2,000 lakhs. The ‘UN Lake’ at Dhudhala village was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Governor Shri Acharya Devvrat and Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel. The Governor and the CM also inaugurated the UN Lake Water Conference by lighting a lamp.

Speaking on the occasion, Governor Shri Acharya Devvratji said that climate change has caused temperatures to rise steeply in foreign countries. Even India is witnessing unseasonal rains. Excessive rainfall is washing away the cultivable land. The use of urea and chemical fertilizers in the fields does not allow rainwater to penetrate the soil.

The use of Jeevamrit and solid Jeevamrit in natural farming causes an increase in the earthworms in the soil. These earthworms make holes in the soil to make it fertile. Today, preserving nature is one of the biggest challenges. The campaign for natural farming has been initiated following the call by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. As many as 7.5 lakh farmers in the state are engaged in natural farming. It is necessary to create Amrit Sarovars in every village and revive dry rivers to save water for future generations. The Governor informed us about the model of natural farming in Gurukul. Elaborating on the difference between natural farming and organic farming, he explained the benefits of natural farming and urged the farmers to take up chemical fertilizer-free farming.

The Governor also congratulated the Chief Minister for his unflinching support in the campaign for water irrigation and natural farming.
On this occasion, Hon’ble Governor Shri Acharya Devvrat congratulated the Dholakia family and Shri Savjibhai Dholakia for their incredible work in water irrigation.

Works related to water conservation and green energy have been done in collaboration with the State Government and various organizations to ensure greater public welfare through natural resources.

Appreciating the noble work for the service of the nation through the Dholakia Foundation, the Chief Minister said, “Amrit Sarovars have been constructed for water conservation, with joint efforts of about 60 villages in the region, which has created a stunning scenic view.” He congratulated all the villages and their people.

The Chief Minister added that following Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi’s call for constructing Amrit Sarovars in every district, 75 such Sarovars have been constructed in every district of the state today.
