Gandhinagar, Wednesday: Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel oversees the planning of 36th National Games to be held in Gujarat and conducts a comprehensive review in the organizing committee meeting for its successful organization. Minister of State for Sports Shri Harsh Sanghavi also joined the meeting chaired by the Chief Minister.
Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel said that Gujarat has got the opportunity to host the 36th National Games, which is being held after a gap of 7 years, is a matter of pride. He further gave guidance on proper planning so that these 36th National Games Event become memorable for the athletes across the country.
Approximately 8 thousand players from 36 states and Union Territories of the country are going to participate in various 36 sports. Various competitions of this sports festival will be held in 6 cities of Gujarat, Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Rajkot, Surat, Bhavnagar and Gandhinagar. A National Games Executive Committee has been formed under the leadership of Chief Secretary Shri Pankaj Kumar to organize 36 different games in a total of 17 places in these cities. Apart from this, the responsibility of city committee has been entrusted to the officials of secretary level in 6 metros.
In which, Urban Development Principal Secretary Shri Mukesh Kumar for Ahmedabad, MD of GIDC Shri Thennarasan for Surat, For Bhavnagar MD of the ST corporation Shri Gandhi, Industries Commissioner Shri Rahul Gupta for Rajkot, GUVNL MD Shri Shivhare for Vadodara and Commissioner Municipalities Administration Shri Rajkumar Beniwal for Gandhinagar will take charge.
Detailed discussion regarding the planning of opening and closing ceremony took place in this meet. The opening ceremony of this 36th National Games to be held on 27th September at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium in the presence of one and a half lakh sports lovers and famous players took place in this meeting. It will be concluded at the indoor stadium in Surat on 12th October.
Sports Principal Secretary Shri Ashwini Kumar that for the 36th National Games, a well-planned arrangement is also being made to create an atmosphere of excitement and enthusiasm across the state. Accordingly, activation in schools and colleges during September 12 to 16, in 6 cities the sports carnival will be held from September 15 to 25, as well as a mascot rally will be held from September 22 to September 29.
It is a good coincidence that along with these National Games, the festival of Adhyashakti worship and Gujarat’s global identity Navratri is also coming. It is being planned such that the players of the different states of the country can enjoy this intimate culture of Garba-Ras of Gujarat along with the sports festival.
In the meeting it was also informed that a website and an app have been launched under the Games Management System for real-time communication with the players participating in the National Games, accommodation-food, transportation information, player profile updates and real-time updates of results.
Chief Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Shri Kailashnathan, Principal Secretary Shri Pankaj Kumar, Director General of Police Shri Ashish Bhatia, Additional Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Shri Pankaj Joshi, Principal Secretaries of Energy, Finance, Sports Department, Secretary Tourism and Managing Directors of ST Corporation, G.I. DC, GUDM participated in this meeting.
Representatives of Sports Authority of India, Indian Olympic Association and Gujarat State Olympic Association were also present in this meeting.
