President Shri Ram Nath Kovind as well as Guj CM and Union Minister of Railways paid floral tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel

    President Ram Nath Kovind today categorically stated that the Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi gave direction to India’s freedom struggle, and win independence for the country. After independence, Ironman Sardar Saheb with his firm willingness and decisive leadership merged 562 princely states into India to make it a united country.

    On occasion of death anniversary Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Mr. Kovind paid a rich tribute to Sardar Saheb at the world’s tallest statue ‘Statue of Unity’, in the presence of Gujarat Governor Mr. O. P. Kohli, Chief Minister Mr. Vijaybhai Rupani, and Union Railway Minister Mr. Piyush Goyal, at Kevadia.

    Later, he also attended the ‘Prathna Sabha’ organized at the venue and also visited ‘Flowers of Valley’ and made plantation there.

    On the occasion, the President had laid foundation stone for the India’s first Green Building, ultramodern railway station to be built at a cost of Rs. 20-Crore.

    Awed by the greatness and size of the statue, Mr. Kovind said the Statue of Unity is not an attraction for India only but for the world too! For future generations, it will also become a center point of inspiration to spread message of unity from the life of Sardar Saheb.

    Making of Statue of Unity was an appropriate tribute given to Sardar Saheb by Prime Minister Mr. Narendrabhai Modi, he added.

    Mr. Rupani stated that the Statue of Unity has become a “Symbol of Unity” for the world. Kevadia is becoming known as ‘Ekta Nagar’ (City of Unity) in the country as well as across the world.

    Once connected by railway, the place will become wonder of the world he said and thanked Government of Indian and Railway Ministry for building a modern railway station at Kevadia.

    Others who spoke on the occasion included Union Railway Minister Mr. Piyush Goyal. The occasion was also graced by India’s First Lady Mrs. Savita Kovind, Minister of State for Panchayat Mr. Bachubhai Khabad, Member of Parliament Mr. Ramsinh Rathwa, Naranbhai Rathwa, Mansukhbhai Vasava, Chief Secretary Dr. J. N. Singh, and others.
